ogbebaba
ok do you think that the same characters that are popular in the books will be popular in the series? I do. and Sandor is considered one of the most popular characters in the series. (check some of the popularity threads) they they will probably merge and axe some of the minor characters. but Sandor IS NOT a minor character plus if you merge him with ilyn you get a guy with a horrible burn scar that cant talk. how exactly is that character ever going to be liked by the majority of the viewers? :smug:
Ran
I think in this case, "merging" meant making Sandor Clegane the King's Justice. It makes no sense to me, personally, but people seem to love the idea of slashing characters out of the books. Even a character who has no speaking lines whatsoever, but whose presence is used in a few important scenes, is not safe from their editorial knives. ;)
Margaery
If they really want to cut story, they could cut out entirely Sandor, Kevan, the Blackfish, Loras, Bronn, Illyrio and Oberyn (though the last one is doubtful because he has one of the most cinematographic scenes of the books), as well as almost all the secondary characters who get even less mentions that these 5. But I hope they don't. At least the Blackfish, Loras, Oberyn and Bronn. They can cut Sandor, Kevan and Illyrio if they wantXD Characters you CAN'T cut (apart from POVs): -Margaery -Doran -Euron (and now Victarion) -Jojen Reed -Petyr -Howland Reed XD -Robert (obviously) -Joffrey -Tywin -Stannis -Renly -Walder Frey (yes, I know; I wish they could) -Gendry (well, I guess he could, but Ned arriving to his theory just form Barra...) -Edric Storm -Lord Beric (thatis, IF UnCat is going to start haging important people. I fnot, the Brotherhood could be cut out entirely) -Viserys -Barristan -Probably Jorah -Ygritte POVs you CAN cut: -Aeron -Areo Hotah -Davos -Maybe Arianne. Depends on what she does in DWd -Maybe Brienne. Depends on her destiny at the end of AFFC. Though she has great scenes, same as Oberyn, so... (and Renly's death would have to be blamed on someone else, and Jaime owudl have to be escorted by someone else as well) -Maybe Theon. Depends on what George does with him in DwD This is not to mean that I want them to be cut, only that they CAN be cut, without driving yourself into a corner over the story

If you cut Sandor you change a lot of the story. He has saved the lives of Sansa, Arya, and Laros, he was the winner of the hands tourney, and he has more on screen time than some POV characters? You can cut Sandor who has so much on screen time but you can't cut Howland Reed who we never actually see other than in flashbacks?

Loras' rescue as well (and the winner could be Loras himself if he isn't cut, or anyone, really). The part about Arya is a bit more problematic, but she could be kidnapped by someone else, or head directly to Jaqen on her own will (that is, running away from Beric and the others, which she WAS doing before Sandor captured her) I''m not saying I want him cut, specially regarding the Arya bit, I'm saying he could be Howland Reed is one of the people who know too much, according to George. Others are Varys and Littlefinger. Would you cut them? If Howland is going to be so important, it would be dangerous from a writer's perspective to cut him Besides, you need Jojen to set Bran onto the right path
Maltaran
You can cut Sandor who has so much on screen time but you can't cut Howland Reed who we never actually see other than in flashbacks?
Howland's the only survivor from the Tower of Jot, thus the only person who knows the truth of Jon's parentage (assuming the popular theory is correct). I do agree that you can't cut Sandor, though - he's too important to too many subplots.
