Realistic casting considerations

One of the threads that comes up in most fan-based forums is "who would you cast as...". TBH most of these don't actually have a chance of becoming a reality. In this case, there IS a chance that some of the recommendations will be considered.

That said, it's a chance for consideration.
What helps the odds of consideration?
Realistic casting picks and a bit of lee-way granted for Hollywood to do their magic.

What hurts the odds of consideration?
Extremely strict interpretations of who would and wouldn't fit a role.

For the most part I think folks have been pretty cool. It's just real easy to drift off to the point where we nit-pick and critique actors and actresses because they have the wrong hair color, or are a couple years to old/ young, they're too short/ tall...when realistically many of these things can be "corrected" by makeup, camera angles, standing on a box ;)

Of course, Hollywood magic can only do so much: I wouldn't recommend Viggo Mortensen as Jon Snow per se.
;)
