Anyone have Info on Fan size base?

We here all love this series for sure. I have read the thing 4 times so far!! Does anyone have a way to get numbers on how big this fan base is? I know, I both recommended the books,as well as give them away to others to enjoy.

My husband does not enjoy fantasy, or sci- fi as a rule, but I have been trying to talk him into watching the series with me. I tell him about the character development, and how it is not really centered on magic. So, maybe he will watch with me.

I hope the fan base is as big as I think it is. I also hope they can do some great advertising for the series, once it starts, to hook those who have not read the books.

Well, one very unscientific way would be to count reviews on popular websites. http://www.iblist.com/, http://www.goodreads.com/, etc...

Game of Thrones currently has more reviews on Amazon.com than Wizards First Rule and The Golden Compass, and nearly as many as Eye of the World. So it's popular. Still a ways behind cultural phenomenons like Twilight, The Davinci Code, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone.

I'm sure sales of the books will spike with the HBO buzz much like the Harris' Southern Vampire novels took off. If the show is greenlit [gods willing] before Dance With Dragons comes out (which would be depressing for us readers, because they haven't even started filming the pilot yet), the publisher will surely embark on heavy--nearly inescapable--level promotion of the novels when Dance comes out.

There was another thread on sales figures on the board... found it and one more here
