Hi Fleurlis,

If your serious about acting the best thing to do is relocate to an area that has a lot of work and auditions happening. It's not only the obvious places like NYC and L.A. but Phoenix, Orlando and Miami, Atlanta, Toronto, Vancouver, etc.

Pittsburgh is great, but not if your serious about breaking into acting as a career.

Oddly, Pittsburgh has a decent movie industry (in the past 2 years -The Road, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Adventureland, She's Out of Your League, The Next Three Days, Love and Other Drugs, Sorority Row, My Bloody Valentine...) however, they bring in talent for most of the major roles. I have an agent in NY and travel there once/twice a month for work and auditions. With the magic of the internet I do most of my auditioning via my living room and camcorder.

I just thought it would be easier to get a SAG card if you work in productions that can credit you towards one... But possibly you have one through extra work in the films you mentioned, so it's a non-issue. You have a great look, can you do accents? You have a British/Scandinavian appearance and I think you mentioned your height as 5'11? I could see Brienne if they keep your eyes as they are (pretty) but made your face plain (your not) to be The maid of Tarth, or a Lannister woman, although there seem to be more Lannister men then women. Aren't the people of Quarth fair and tall?

To get even an audition with the GoT pilot, the casting director said they were looking for actors with British Equity cards... Are they working around actors who don't? I believe so. I don't think Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster Waldau, or Jason Momea have British Equity, but I could be wrong and maybe they do. I don't know the rules for the U.K., but possibly HBO patroned them into B.E., or they were allowed to work around B.E. for actors they truely want.

When casting starts up again in the spring (I'm sure the show will be greenlit), will HBO be stringant about British Equity? I hope not, there's plenty of new (non B.E.) talent out there.

BE has visiting actor's memberships... it's 25 pounds and 1% of your total pay for work. (Which compared to SAG or AFTRA is laughable.) The requirement is that you must have work... so I don't think HBO will have big issue with bringing non-BE over. I'm just trying to get in front of the right people... not easy. (Dave? Dan? Bueller???) I've contemplated going to London and looking for work to get in front of Nina Gold.

(Perhaps they only wanted Brits because they had a limited budget for the pilot and didn't want to schelp Yanks over to Ireland...?)

I would take whatever role they'd offer, but I'd love Brienne. I have 5 years martial arts, equestrian, and fencing. And I think she's an amazing device in the story line. I can be ugly enough, and I think 5' 11" is tall enough next to NCW. (I can make my 6'4" husband submit when we grapple. It's sport, not abuse, folks.) My accent, to be honest, isn't consistent but comes out stronger when people around me are speaking with it. (I tend to sound like I don't know where I'm from in the UK.)

It's no secret that my first choice is Robin Weigert for that role, but I'm pulling for you. You certainly have the height and acting creds (which is lacking in just about all of the women whose names have been put forward who have the muscular, boyish builds for Brienne). NCW is only 6'2". Did you have any luck contacting Management360 via IMDBpro?
