G.S.P. has 'no way' of winning this one eh? Just like he didn't last time? He stops Penn this time says my money. They are both equally phenomenal and G.S.P.'s in his proper weight class. I believe that gives him the edge in this phenom v. phenom showdown.

You did see the 1st round from last time didn't you? You are aware that Penn won't gas this time. Stop clutching at straws.

Penn is a canny fighter, and much improved since his previous decision loss to GSP, but so is St. Pierre. MMA, anything can happen, so I guess we'll see-- but fighters of this caliber and respective abilities [shrugs] this is a title shot, potentially 10 minutes longer than a regular bout. Both will come prepared and in the best shape they've ever been in [giving the benefit of the doubt to Penn here] but, if Penn can't put GSP down in the first two rounds, the end is a forgone conclusion, imo.

I give it to GSP. I like Penn, but GSP is going to be tough to get on the ground and submit. I'd give the fight to GSP on his feet and grappling. BJ can win on the ground, but unless he's on top, he can't keep GSP on the ground with him, not to mention GSP is a fucking machine.

If even Matt Hughes had a bitch of a time getting GSP down to the mat, I just don't see BJ pulling this out of his ass.
What makes you think that GSP has any hope on the feet? BJ kills him up stairs and once GSP is forced to take him down, if he can get him down, he is in trouble as well.
I think saying Penn "kills" GSP in the standup is going a bit far. GSP is a bloody good striker in his own right and has improved immensely in the last three years. He'll be able to give Penn a run for his money on his feet. Wrestling-wise, GSP wins hands down. On the ground Penn is overall better and undoubtedly the better submission artist. Overall I'd say they're pretty even skill-wise; equal at striking, GSP better at wrestling and Penn better at grappling. On the other hand, despite Penn's recent training there's no doubt in my mind that GSP will be going into that fight fitter, stronger and with a bigger gas-tank. It could go either way, but my money is on Georges Rush St. Pierre.

Yeah Barry J, I saw that first round, and I'd agree it went to B.J., although a fortuitous thumb to the eye had much to do with that. There are three rounds in a fight you know. The old 'look at his face' doesn't mean squat either, as all that damage was done in the first round on a half blind GSP, Penn couldn't capitalize on having GSP hurt, and had NO ANSWER for GSP when he started rolling. You'll see a better GSP on the feet vs. B.J. this time, I'm betting.

I'll give the fight to BJ with one qualification, he comes in the fight in absolutely great shape. If I see pudgy BJ again...its an easy GSP victory.

BJ not taking his training/fitness seriously in the past is what used to make me kind of hate the guy. So much talent and he just used to show up thinking he was good enough to beat top fighters no matter how fit he was.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves! We've still got UFC 93, WEC 38, and Affliction 2 before the Penn-GSP fight. UFC 93 is this weekend, too. It's an underwhelming card, clearly the pre-party to UFC 94, but there are some good match-ups. Anyone got picks?

Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson - Kinda sad when the headliners are two guys who were basically kicked out of the Middleweight division by the champ. Ironically, for a guy who simultaneously held two belts, Hendo's record doesn't look as impressive as Franklin's. Still, for some reason I just see him overpowering Franklin. If he loses, then Pride is officially dead in the UFC.

Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio Rua - Oh yeah, except for Shogun, who I expect will make his comeback by pouding on the old, broken down Coleman. Seriously, this guy is in Ken Shamrock's generation and hasn't competed in over two years. Hopefully Shogun is healthy, in shape, and ready to make the title run he should have started a year ago.

Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang - This looks like a clear tune-up fight to welcome Kang into the UFC. I haven't had much of an opportunity to see him in action other than when he handed Mousasi that triangle. Hopefully he'll do better than that against such a middling jobber as Belcher.

Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle - This is the implied fight of the night, and both of these guys are very entertaining. I'm going with Davis because I have an irrational respect for DellaGrotte fighters. Still, his stubby little arms might make this expected slug-fest very risky.

Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares - Palhares looked very one-dimensional against Hendo, but I'll still give it to him. Horn won't have the wrestling to so easily nullify his takedowns, allowing him to use his superior grappling.

Davis vs Lytle is interesting. I think Davis' power on the feet sees him through.

I can only presume that Palhares is being set up for another run at the top. Seems like a gimme fight.

Kang has a big rep and big drawing power in Korea. I think that Joe Silva knows enough to not take any chances in his first fight.

Shogun via shooting star press. Is anyone taking this fight seriously?

The main event is really interesting. Even if Silva chased them out of town they are both big enough dogs to be in the Top 5 at LHW given a bit of luck. Really struggling to pick this one. Hendo has the power to destroy Franklin but Franklin has looked good enough at 205 to make Hendo look his age. I will go with Hendo late on by KO.

Another fella from our gym is making his UFC debut. This time in an easier fight on the undercard. Jon Hathaway fights unbeaten Irish fighter Tom Egan. Hopefully they put on a decent enough show to make it to the broadcast.

This card is pretty bad but it looks stellar next to the one coming up in London. Even I am going to stop going if they carry on like this.

UFC 95 will be free on Spike, so that's why it's a modest card. Not a lot of big star power, but there are a few fights that I'm looking forward to. Sanchez makes his debut at lightweight, and I bet he makes a strong statement. Koscheck is coming off his big KO, but he's fighting a newbie. Demian Maia is a middleweight to watch, and he'll be fighting the de facto WEC champ. Dos Santos is coming off his own KO to fight a 6'8 Dutch submission specialist. Wow.

Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson - From the video blog Franklin will be 210 and Hendo will be 203, so the size should be pretty comparable. I expect Franklin to be a little better standing, but not that much better and Dan will win a decision with takedowns and his clinch.

Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio Rua - Coleman will be beaten up on his feet and submitted when he goes for a takedown. Rua by knee bar.

Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang - Kang never really impressed me much and I could see him getting KOed.

Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle - Davis if they both fight a stand up war like everyone is expecting.

Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares - Palhares sends Horn out of the UFC with a flashy submission victory. Horn has looked awful lately and is being set up to lose here.

I like this card. Franklin vs. Henderson should be a 5 round fight, but I guess this will do. I think it'll end up being a better fight than BJ vs. GSP actually. Coleman vs. Rua will probably end up being one-sided, but it would be entertaining if the drop to 205 gave Coleman some life and maybe some cardio as well. At least UFC 95 is a free card...I have tickets to 96 and it's looking awful right now. They need to get Rampage vs. Rashad on that card.

Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson - Hardest fight to call on the card and sure to be a barn burner

Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio Rua - Coleman got lucky as anybody can in the sport last time

Alan Belcher vs. Denis Kang - Hoping to see great things from Kang. When he's on, he's trouble for anyone in the weight class

Marcus Davis vs. Chris Lytle - I was going to take Davis, but I'm taking Lytle now just because nobody else has.

Jeremy Horn vs. Rousimar Palhares - Horn's a warrior but as others have mentioned, hasn't looked great against the top competition lately. Plus, Palhares is better at the ground game, Horn's greatest strength. No way Horn can dent the chin of the guy when Hendo couldn't. Bad match up for Horn.
Did they charge the same prices as with their other London shows? They have been dropping the ball a lot on their shows there.
Not sure, we got tickets further back to save money seeing as there wasn't even a main event announced at the time. Fight Night quality cards if that.
