Aren't they just! Although I downloaded the app some time ago, I haven't got round to using it yet. How does that go anyway? Get permission from the artist, screenshot that, & all good to upload?

Contact the artist and explain which images you wish to use and for what, ask their permission, and once permission is given, download the image (makes for much better quality than a screenshot), upload it onto the wiki, and quote the permission in the licensing template.

I meant is it good policy/necessary to screenshot the author's permission? Say, for as you note, quoting such (with evidence).

The policy is to quote the artist's statement of permission to demonstrate that permission has actually been given. I personally always safe the email (or message) stating the permission, just in case.

Would the multiple images template be a useful addition to the wiki? I've created it using the Template:Sandbox, and placed some examples of it's usage on the Sandbox page. The only (small) issue might be seen in the third example (with three images side by side horizontally), which displays as three vertically listed images on mobile view.

I figured that this template might be useful for pages such as Heraldry, but I'm not entirely sure. Opinions would be much appreciated :)

Edit: I cleared the sandbox and its template so others can use it again.

Some of the infoboxes for Battle articles list Houses which possibly participated in a battle, along with Houses whose participation can be sourced. For instance, the "Battle of the Blackwater" mentions Houses Myatt (since the Myatts help escort Tywin's corpse back to the Rock in AFFC), Hayford (since they are in the crownlands), Leygood (since they are with Randyll Tarly in AFFC), and Penrose (since they are with Renly at Bitterbridge in ACOK). Regarding Bitterbridge, however, GRRM suggests here that while most of the men at Bitterbridge joined the Tyrell/Lannister army, some went home. House Peake is included among the Reach's men during the battle, but IIRC the Peakes haven't done anything so far in ASOIAF. There is fighting throughout central Westeros (almost as far north as near the Twins in early ACOK), so it's plausible some houses eventually rejoin Tywin or Randyll after regional campaigns or as reinforcements. To be on the safe side, I think it would be better to avoid assumptions and only list info which can be sourced.

@Nittanian

I agree with that. Maybe there's some place to make some passing reference to the reading in relation to the page for TWoW, regarding things we know GRRM has written for the book, but a full article based on a transcript of an unpublished piece of material seems a bit much.

Do we have a source for Oberyn being a knight?

A Feast for Crows, The Soiled Knight:

Ser Arys had yet to meet Quentyn Martell. The prince had been fostered by Lord Yronwood from a tender age, had served him as a page, then a squire, had even taken knighthood at his hands in preference to the Red Viper's.

As only a knight can make a knight, Oberyn has thus been knighted, otherwise Oberyn knighting Quentyn cannot have been an option.

Daemon Sand's page states that he received his knighthood from Oberyn as well, citing AFFC, Cersei V as the source, but I cannot find a quote to back it up. Does anyone else know what quote it refers to?

Closest I can find:

Quote

"There is some news from Dorne that Your Grace may find of more interest. Prince Doran has imprisoned Ser Daemon Sand, a bastard who once squired for the Red Viper."

"I recall him." Ser Daemon had been amongst the Dornish knights who had accompanied Prince Oberyn to King's Landing. "What did he do?"

Although Aerys and Tywin were knights, their infoboxes do not mention "Ser" among their titles.

In contrast, the entries of Maegor I and Robert Baratheon do.

If there is any reason for the distinction, I apologize in advance.

I updated both. Thanks!

@Ran, is it okay if I remove "Battle of the Redwyne Straits"? It is about a battle which has not yet occurred in the books, and its sourcing is from the transcription of the Balticon reading (which George objected to the recording of).

Yeah, I made that right after I read "The Forsaken" and was really excited by it, but it was kind of premature...

@Ran,

While ACOK and ASOS establish Lord Gulian Swann as the Lord of Stonehelm, with his eldest son Donnel as his heir, the appendix of ADWD lists Lord Clifford Swann as the Lord of Stonehelm. Could you perhaps shed some light on this? Do you know if this is an error, or is it unknown whether Clifford actually inherited the seat or whether Gulian is meant there?

I was going to write this one off as a mistake and send a note to the editor about it, but.... could this be a hint of things to come in the Stormlands, given events late in ADwD?

I'll send a more equivocal note on it to suggest Anne check with George on it the next time a new print run of ADwD is ordered up.
