Angalin
Interesting that she's not British-born. Her accent is impeccable. Her mother is the English actress Rosemary Harris, who played Aunt May in the Spiderman films, and Ehle trained in London as well as the US. She's done plenty of television work in the UK.
iheartseverus
I saw it in the theaters so it was released in the US. I also have the DVD which says 2002 on it so I guess that was the year it came out here. I ran out to see it the minute it came out because its based on one of my favorite books by A.S. Byatt. Thanks, my search is on! PS: Anybody know how her last name is pronounced? Just curious...

Stubby
Excellent news. The image linked upthread is a very good one for her Catelyn 'physical' credentials.
The Anti-Targ
Works for me. By the gods but they are getting some quality cast. Gives me hopes for the greenlight for a full season

About Yea High
Her mother is the English actress Rosemary Harris, who played Aunt May in the Spiderman films, and Ehle trained in London as well as the US. She's done plenty of television work in the UK.Okay, completely off the wall scouring YouTube: I just watched Jennifer Ehle win a BAFTA in 1996 for Pride and Prejudice, and she accepted with an English accent.I then watched her win a Tony in 2007 for Coast of Utopia. Accepted with an American Accent. That's either dedicated method acting, or a bizarre identity crisis. The only thing the two have in common is she thanks her wig in both speeches. Then, of course, I run across a clip where she runs around naked in The Camomile Lawn and has ho-hum everyday run-of the mill "talk about the weather while you pull your knickers off" sex. Only slightly reminiscent of Catelyn's first bedroom scene with Ned, but...... She'll make a great Stark.I love the internet.Seriously though ... this chick is lauded. I'm freaking happy. About Yea High
And for anyone who doubted she could play Catelyn at the end of her rope.... or even UnCat...... watch all the way to the end of this clip.Jennifer Ehly - Bald! She's challenging Dinklage for my favorite casting choice thus far. Ser_not_appearing_yet
WOW, she seems perfect. The casting so far has been wet dream-like. :stunned:
The hairy bear
She's great!Once I was worried that they would not be able to get a cast good enough to play the characters. Now I'm starting to worry that with such a good cast, they won't be able to retain them for future seasons. :o
Naknakkus
Can't believe I didn't think of her before. She's perfect. A much better fit even than Bean.
Blue Roses
She's a great actress. Not only P&P but also the Camomile Lawn and Melissa as well. Haven't seen her on TV for a while so really happy with this casting decision. I wonder Bean thinks of it as he has a tendancy to marry his leading ladies......... SergioCQH
Well, Jennifer Ehle is married with two children already. When I first heard the news, I was uncertain. But after doing some research, I'm in love with the casting. Jennifer Ehle will win much deserved sympathy for Catelyn.
ohmahgaw
i think she has proven that shes a quality actress...but she is 39 or 40 right?isn't catelyn somewhere in the arena of 28-30 in the first book?why are the actors cast so far a good 5-10 years older than what theyre supposed to be?dinklage, bean, and now herplease don't flame me, im not angry im just curious
Silverstar
They're aging up all the characters a bit. Catelyn is probably in her early thirties in the books, and will be in her late thirties in the tv show, just as Ned was around 35 in the books, and is down as in his forties in the tv show. I don't think the ages of the adults matter all that much, to be honest. The ages of the kids do, but a 39 year old Catelyn isn't going to be significantly different from a 32 year old Catelyn, whereas an 18 year old Sansa would be a radically different person from a 12 year old version.
