Bellis
I loved her in P&P, though I am almost concerned that she's too sweet and pretty and will make Cat too sympathatic. This casting, along with Sean Bean as Ned, gives me very high hopes for this series now. :)
LugaJetboyGirl
Well, I've always thought Catelyn was a wonderfully drawn and nuanced character, and I think Ehle will be able to pull that off - I think in 'RL' she'll come off very sympathetic which, I think, she is supposed to be.She isn't tall enough, though. Brude
I wonder how Lady Stoneheart will be done. Makeup, CGI, combination of the two? A lot might depend on what the budget for the show is like by Season 3 (or 4, depending on when she appears).
lady narcissa
I can't say the age factor really bothers me. I always think of the adults in ASOIAF as looking a few years older than their stated years. I mean life in that world seems hard and under those conditions would have aged faster. Sort of like people in the Middle Ages. So a 28 year old in ASOIAF wouldn't exactly look like how we would picture a 28 year old looking today. Maybe more like a 38 year old.I think the most important thing is that Jennifer Ehle looks like she could be the mother of a child or two around the age of 10. SergioCQH
The best part about this casting has been the hilarious nerd rage coming from the Gillian Anderson fanbois.

Isn't he 3 at the beginning of the first book? But yeah, a 40 year old woman with a 3 year old is not uncommon. She would have given birth to Rickon at the age of 35-37 (depending on what age she will be representing in the television series). Ehle's age is no prob, even if it were, she is a great actress. The Pita
Don't tell the people on this board. We hate Cat here. Go away. The show is making her a lot more sympathetic than the book. I wonder if the line "It should have been you" will be kept.
Ran
I'm quite sure it will be. I don't see how they're really making her any more or less sympathetic than her portrayal in the series.
TheOnionKnight
She isn't tall enough, though. She is 5'7", that's adequate.I actually remembered her face from something and had to check where from, I believe it was the River King, with Ed Burns. She definitely has that "pretty and safe and comforting" look that would suit Catelyn.
Roismelior
Yay! Yayayayay! My dream-Catelyn! I know she'll be a great Catelyn.I loved her in P&P, though I am almost concerned that she's too sweet and pretty and will make Cat too sympathatic. If you watch Ehle in Possession, you'll see that Catelyn Stark steel underneath. Lizzy was supposed to be a sweet and pretty girl, albeit one with a very sharp tongue. Christabel LaMotte (her character in Possession) is very different. I have no doubt that Ehle will be able to convey Catelyns warring emotions. And thanks, Rimmer! *blushes*

quigon87
Props to Roismelior for calling her back in December :)A pretty unbelievable post that one is... they might not have got the right character, but they called Harry Lloyd in that same post, Wow! Would have never thought of him for Jon Snow...Theon, yes. Somehow the Viserys and Theon roles seem almost interchangeable in terms of the actors who could play them. Not the same character, but the same type and age seems to fit well.
Estelindis
Wow, I really didn't see this one coming. :) Great choice! I love the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice...

A lot might depend on what the budget for the show is like by Season 3 (or 4, depending on when she appears). It shouldn't be that hard to do with makeup. Zombification's come a long way since George Romero smeared grey-blue paint on the bored mall-goers of the Pittsburgh suburbs.

Mathis
I always thought Cat was supposed to be sympathetic. From almost the beginning of GoT, where Catelyn tells Jon 'it should have been you' wrt to Bran's fall, I've disliked her and wanted her to fall. She was neve sympathetic to me.Great casting btw. She's like Christian Bale and Gillian Anderson in that they don't have any fixed accent. That must be weird.
Ser_not_appearing_yet
I always (well nearly always) found Catelyn a somewhat sympathetic character, but lets not get into that. Ehle should own.
