Silverstar
It was only unsympathetic in the novels to some people, though, and I think actually seeing the strain and grief she's experiencing at the time she says it could quite easily make it, at least, understandable. Though if Jon turns out to be gorgeous, I imagine huge numbers of irate fangirls going after poor Ms Ehle...
The Pita
I expect her to say it with a lot of pain and anguish, using the clever "acting" method of acting, and thus making people understand that she's not really a psycho bitch yet. If she does that, I'm gonna be happy.EDIT- Yes, my english be shitty. thanks Rimmer

iheartseverus
Jennifer Ehle (Catelyn) will be doing live theater starting in January--she's got a busy fall/winter season coming up! And it seems she's involved with Bean(e)s all over the place! Starring with Sean Bean in GoT and doing theater in a Douglas Carter Beane play!Thursday, August 20, 2009The Ride is Bigger than we Thought Wonderful news! Jennifer Ehle has been cast in the Douglas Carter Beane comedy Mr. & Mrs. Fitch Exciting doesn't seem a strong enough word to describe hearing that she is returning to live theater."After making us wait a few extra months for the premiere of the new Douglas Carter Beane comedy “Mr. & Mrs. Fitch,†Second Stage Theater has announced the cast for the play. John Lithgow (lately of “All My Sonsâ€) and Jennifer Ehle (“The Coast of Utopiaâ€) will star as a husband-and-wife team of gossip columnists who discover, according to a news release, that “great celebrity can appear out of thin air†when “the social circuit no longer provides any scandalous news.†The play is Mr. Beane’s first for Second Stage since the 2005 debut of his comedy “The Little Dog Laughed,†and the production will reunite him with its director, Scott Ellis, whose recent stint on the Showtime series “Weeds†prompted Second Stage to delay “Mr. & Mrs. Fitch†until its 2009-10 season. The new play is to begin previews on Jan. 26 and open on Feb. 22."
Halfhand
Interesting. That may shed some light on when they plan on doing filming for the full season, if it gets picked up. I have to imagine in the contract Ehle signed that it stipulates she be available from X to Y if the series gets picked up for more filming. If she went and booked a play that opens on Feb. 22 I guess that means that filming for the first season is expected to be much later into spring/summer of '10. Then they would have to be filming he series after that, I would assume...hmm, I really thought they'd be doing it a bit earlier.
dragon wolf
Jon Lithgow, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. Before he discovered comedy, he played great bad guys, he had the eyes for it. Tywin, Roose, Blackfish?
iheartseverus
Could they not be planning Dec-Jan filming?

The Meereense Knot
I would think that they finished filming the vast majority of the this Season's Dexter, since the complete first episode has been leaked and the season is getting ready to start soon. I also kind of doubt Lithgow's character will last past the end of the season, so I'd think he'd be free. I don't know if he'd be up for another series, but since he's done Dexter, he might be open to it. Though he could probably be a decent Tywin or go in another direction and be Walder Frey. Morrigan
You're right, I forgot that it was restarting so soon (and OMG WTF, the first episode has been leaked? *scurries over to mininova* :leaving: ). But then, he IS American, so he's unlikely to be cast, so far only Dinklage is American and it's probably because kick-ass dwarf actors are so rare. I imagine that puts filming back to April/May at the earliest, which is a bit later than I thought (I was assuming it would be around March). Not so late that it can't still get on air for early 2011 though, but I think that makes 2010 (already dubious) a lot less likely.
Ran
Shows in the U.S. start filming in May/July for August/September premieres. I suppose a brand new show just getting off the ground can take a little longer to set up, but still, starting in May should certainly allow them to premiere in the September-November area if they wanted I should have thought. They filmed The Pacific back in 2007/08, IIRC, and it's not airing until February 2010 due to the massive post-production work they needed to put it through.Okay, that's an extreme case, but even with The Wire, which had very little post-production work needed, they seemed to write the whole season before shooting it, and shot the whole season before putting it through post, just to make sure they had enough time to do everything right.True Blood does seem to have had a slightly tighter turn-around, with Season 2 shooting in late 2008/early 2009 for summer 2009 transmission, but from what I've seen that doesn't need a huge amount of post either. Ran
Would AGoT need a huge amount of post compared to something like BSG? I'm dubious. But it's true, looking at it, generally HBO (and Showtime) use a completely different production model from hour-longs on network television. I wonder why they prefer to get it all in the can first before premiering?
Brude
They are going to have to shoot the exterior stuff that takes place in the North in cold, winter months, so I'm guessing December - February. Catelyn will maybe need to do a few exteriors in the North, but not many, IIRC. Mostly her stuff in the North is indoors, I believe. All of the exteriors that take place in the South will have to be shot in Spring and Summer, otherwise it just won't look like the Riverlands or the area around King's Landing. We need to see sun and green on those trees.
