gryphon strike
Well, Rovers have made it 4 wins from their last 6 league games against the Trotters. That's made me feel just a little bit better ;). But, to be honest, I would have been happy to see Rovers get caned if the Glory had managed to get through to the next round of the finals :ohwell:.Like you have something to complain about, I am from Adelaide mate so suck it up!ohh and I try to follow westham in England OLP but thats more a family thing than anything else.GO HAMMERSNow you know where I get my early liking for Thor from :P
Paxter
Like you have something to complain about, I am from Adelaide mate so suck it up!Mate, you can't complain at all - two A-League grand finals and an ACL final in the last four years. That's pretty good going really. Meanwhile, Glory have had just one finals appearance during that period.

They were so exhausted by the time of the final.
gryphon strike
Page 3 people?I seem to be doing all the talking here. Was a weird day, had a hassle with a minor boss who knew about a problem with my load before I did, but instead of calling me on the radio. He decides to wait for me to call him and then ignores my 3 efforts to call him, then he has the gall when I get back to base to try and give me shit for not waiting there!I basically refused to accept I was in the wrong and sat in the office glaring at the wall until they sorted out the problem. Then I had a new job given to me by a very meek boss. Today I got a great run, horrible load but a great run.Into the countryside to pick up 7 tonnes of olive oil thats being shipped to China to go into cosmetics. Funny thing is it is only the cheap poor grade stuff that the bloke sourced so he could be finished with the contract. He is not worried though he is still getting $18 a litre so $18,000 x 7= $126,000not bad considering he paid $21,000 for it.Anyway that was a slow drive on the track from where I picked it up, massive potholes everywhere and the guy had given me a bottle of the good oil which I didn't want to shake up too much. This stuff retails for $20us per 500ml but you can get it a bit cheaper here.I will let you know if it is any good.
Daemrion
Nothing much has been happening of note in Australia. Except the hype around winning Gold at the Winter Olympics I suppose.

Except the hype around winning Gold at the Winter Olympics I suppose.Did you see the docu on 2 about how they took 4 top atheletes from various disiplines and trained them to be luge skeleton racers?$500,000 spent on it for what?It is not like it is a sport that is played here in Australia I mean as far as I know there is not a single skeleton track in the country! How many homeless people could have been helped or university places opened?Yes sport is important don't get me wrong but that was simply an enormous waste of money! Paxter
Strange day of cricket yesterday. I was actually fielding well for a change - took two of the better catches I have ever taken in my life. Then, while fielding at short fine leg, a ball was top-edged high in the air over me and so I turned and ran flat out towards where I anticipated the ball would land. As I was running, I looked up and realised that I had a pretty good chance of catching the ball, so I steadied myself with my hands cupped out in front of me, fingers held outward (I have never been able to catch with a "reverse cup"). Unfortunately, the ball held up in the breeze and dropped almost vertically and ended up hitting me right on the mouth, with my hands still stretched helplessly out in front of me and nothing to protect my face from the full force of the ball. I was lucky - my teeth didn't shatter or come loose, although my upper lip has swollen up to twice its usual size after being sandwiched between my teeth and 156g of leather and cork. Timely reminder though that you need to be careful on the cricket field. I remember GS saying that someone he knew died (or was seriously injured?) playing cricket. Lesson learned I suppose. Ski the Swift
I remember when I used to play (when I was much younger) there was a kid who did the same as you, he was very unco. Is it actually you? Did you move across the country to escape me?
Horza
Your teeth still counts as a catch, right?

Did you move across the country to escape me? I'm still fuming about my moment of "unco-ness" though. I'd finally earned a bit of respect for my fielding after taking two good catches (one of the them was a one-handed speccie ;) ), and then I go and let the ball land on my face :ohwell:. Ski the Swift
Could be worse. This guy I was talking about, he once ran in for a catch only to have the ball land exactly where he had been standing before he started running.
gryphon strike
Pax yes a friend of mine took a cricket ball to the temple in the nets, he died from it which was a real shame since he was a truly good bloke to everyone.Glad you are ok and sorry but I did misread that thought it said leather and cock. My apolagies for laughing so hard.

I remember GS saying that someone he knew died (or was seriously injured?) playing cricket. Lesson learned I suppose.Ouch, glad to here you're ok Pax. My days of grade cricket were mostly spent hiding out at midoff, where the game was always in front of me and occasionally the bowler would do my fielding for me. ;) I remember actually being physically scared for my own safety in the field once, there was a massive guy bashing the ball everywhere with a fearsome square cut as his favourite shot, and I was in at backward point on a small field. It was always harder picking the ball up when you're side-on to the pitch.
Stubby
Ouch Pax. Pix? :P Seriously, though, you haven't been a cricketer until you've copped one in the gob, the nuts and the back of the head. I'm a cricketer, twice over on each count. Once, I took a great diving caught and bowled but landed on the ball in such a way that I bruised a rib and even went to hospital because I couldn't catch my breath and didn't know why. Ended up with a bruised spleen and an overnight stay to make sure I hadn't ruptured it! Bloody good catch though...

gryphon strike
ok sorry but need to speak of this while I remember it.So had a nap and a really weird dream/nightmare.I was in a house I have dreamed of before with a small courtyard connected to the house pretty much just a couple of metres square.Anyway I had to go to work or something but there was this bloody T-rex stalking me!yeah that is right a dirty great dionosaur wanted to eat me and was chasing me around the house, it was outside I was inside but I could not get a gap to get away or lose it.I managed to lure it into the tiny courtyard mentioned but somehow the thing not only fit but then tried to force its way through the door then after that through some large windows.I was not what could be called scared in the dream but the nightmare part was when the thing went for a small girl and I really only had one thought, "this is my chance to get away!"That was the nightmare part I did eventually lure the thing into some really rough and broken area and it squewered itself. Then the entire scene changed to another place I have dreamed of in the past a series of long low underground dwellings but that is when I woke upstill freaked by my not caring about the kid. Ski the Swift
I had a Jurassic Park dream the other night, I've had it a few times. Muldoon and Sam Niel and all, along with a lot of random black guys dying.

Poor Peter Garret is learning. It seems another former singer is getting politicalAngry Anderson on other culturesROCK'N'ROLL bad boy Gary Angry Anderson believes life experience has taught him "Aussies use their fists" when they fight and that "weapons were introduced by other cultures". I don't know if I entirely agree with him and this is me talking. Yeah he has some point, but I didn't hear his whole speach.Cricket injuries? Yeah been whacked in the groin by the ball. Anyone ever remember the bodyline cotroversy? We actually had to touch on that in history in high school. Now we'll jsut being covering the dreamtime.GS, instead of a small girl couldn't it have been a tarzan/jane type situation where you kill the t-rex and have hot jungle sex with the heroine?
