Aussies XLVIII

Yeah there is a first time for everything isn't there?

mate the streets must be wild over there considering the celebrations for reaching second with 2 from 2

If you'd seen me celebrating on Sunday, you would have thought we just beat the reigning premiers in the Grand Final, not Round 3 of the home and away season ;).

@Stubby: I've never checked out Underbelly. Any good?

Watching Mad Men ATM, which is decent stuff, if a little light-on in the plot department. The whole show is basically the characters.

Damn. New SA A-G not exactly what I would call pro-R18+. But still a vast improvement over Atkinson:

Now, John Rau has told GameSpot AU that he has not yet formed a stance on the issue.

"I have no preconceptions about this issue and intend to listen to the arguments. I can neither support nor wisely argue against a position if I am not aware of the relevant factors," he said.

"It is worth noting that ultimately, the decision does not rest with me alone. Any change would require the support of each jurisdiction's attorney-general."

@Stubby: looks like another series to add to the "to watch" list then. But first: Mad Men and then probably a Deadwood re-watch.

Congrats Paxter, your boys had a great win by the sounds of it. I didn't get to watch it since it was on at 2:40am here but by all reports the Dockers toughed it out (!!!) when normally Geelong would have pulled away.

Now for the Saints. Be interesting to see how that one goes! No Riewoldt or Kosi might make scoring for them difficult.

I watched the first 5 minutes of Underbelly 3 but had to hit the hay.

I've seen th efirst 2 and liked the 2nd one the most. The main feature they missed was Al Grassbys link to Bob Trimbole and the Calabrian mafia. I guess too many labor party members wouldn't have watched it then...

We had a work dinner and I joked with a boss about it and how hammed up the corruption seemed. For instance Dieter Brummer (Haken) and the other two corrupt dudes drinking VB while in a spa in a brothel while on duty. The boss said oh no it's not hammed up at allllllllllll.

And yes the sex really sells that program, though the parts with matthew newton sucked. Well any part iwth matthew newton sucked. Underbelly a tale of two titties.

I've only seen the first season of Underbelly and I thought it was shit. I guess I've been spoilt by American television with shows like The Wire and The Shield.

If you want REAL aussie drama, watch Blue Murder or Phoenix.

Underbelly may be a fun show to watch but please do not believe jack about the "Reality" aspects of it.

The first one had so much stuff totally wrong in it that I laughed more than anything else, especially since some of the real stuff is already documented fact.

ok shamless bump time folks

had a bad week woke up on wednesday delirious from an infection that had me coughing up heaps of green muck.

Spent the last 3 days off work trying to beat this thing

To top it off I bought a prepaid sim card from telstra and it took 3 calls to get the bloody thing activated!

that almost cost me my job

Well, I'm certainly hopeful, but I don't really see us winning this one. The Geelong game was one thing - it was on our home turf and we had a massive point to prove after previous Geelong games at Subiaco. The Saints will be a different proposition altogether. You never know though...

In other news, we just had an earthquake :)

Anyone who's experienced one before probably wouldn't call it that, but my desk was shaking a little bit. Much more exciting than the assignment I'm doing...

was a bit more in my flat windows rattling etc or so I am told, I slept through it.

It was 3.8 on the richter scale and the epicentre was 10-15km's south of Wistow

Stop the press!

The matter of whether Australia should introduce an R18+ classification for video games is on the agenda for discussion at the next Standing Committee of Attorneys-General meeting on May 7.
