Cast the movie(s)

Rutger Hauer FTW, dunno if he'd make a great Oberyn though...

Oberyn should be a more meditteranean guy I think, Hauer could be some River/Vale/North lord...

I agree, I only put him in because I don't remember anyone else old and mean looking challenging Tywin, and I've always wanted to see him and Christopher Walken face off. Maybe Rutger as the Blackfish? Although no on-screen scenes together, I always see the Blackfish as the brains behind Robb's army (not dissing Robb's abilities as a battle leader, but it seemed to me that it started out with Blackfish telling Robb *where* to fight).

I agree with whoever mentioned Tricia Helfer. Cersei is supposed to be just sexy-ass hot, not classically beautiful. Cersei would be a pornstar before she would be a runway model (even though Helfer was a model, shes got the sex appeal I dont see in Nicole Kidman).

Cate Blanchett would make a great Lysa.

I always think of this guy when reading Tyrion. Peter Dinklage

I know he isn't horrible looking, but with some makeup and one black contact...if you bleached his hair white...there you go. And the guy can act. I liked his character in Threshold (even though the show was cheesy). I also loved him in Elf.

My number one pick for the Hound would be Gerard Butler.

The guy has some serious acting chops, but isn't such a household name that people diassociate him from the character. He's talented in warrior roles especially.

Jaime's a hard one to cast. He has to be all golden and hot, but still look capable of waving a sword around. For pure arrogant snarkiness, Jude Law would fit, but unless he went into a longterm fitness program, he wouldn't look fit enough to be one of the most feared warriors in the Seven Kingdoms.

If they beefed him up, that Josh Holloway fellow might be possible for Jaime. I don't know why, but Brad Pitt just doesn't seem Jaime-ish to me. Maybe it's the jaw that could put you into a coma if he chin-hit you.

I heartily agree with the suggestion for Peter Dinklage.

Just some random musings...

Aeron 'Damphair" Greyjoy - Danny Houston

Euron 'Crows-Eye' Greyjoy - John Malkovich

Varys - Marlon Brando (yes I know he's gone, but it would have been great to see)

Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane - Michael Wincott

Robert Baratheon - John Rhys-Davies or Brian Blessed

Stannis Baratheon - Kevin Spacey

Walder Frey - Peter O'Toole

Oberyn Martell - Gerard Butler

Maester Luwin - Michael Lonsdale

wow id never watch an asoiaf movie with you guys cast.

Russell Crowe as ned? Johnny Depp as bronn? Give me a break!

Thank you Ser!

I agree with many points in this thread. I think we can sit here all day and place actors into characters and do a pretty good job at that. But I think when you combine too much talent into a project like this, the total is never close to the sum of it's parts. I do like the Rock as Drogo, and my pick would be Manfred Hoeberl as the Mountain...the guy is 6'8" and who cares if he can act.

Too many big egos in the pot and it would turn out a nasty stew. The budgetary constraints alone would prohibit bulking up with big names. I do like the Peter Dinklage as Tyrion and Leo DiCaprio as Jamie. Only a couple of big names. . .so there's room for one more.

Well if you ask me there are two conditions to be met only. First of all we need GOOD actors (some of the drivel mentioned in earlier posts are mentioned for looks only and cannot be taken seriously on acting merits) and second I think this series ( I cant see it become actually movies, but more a good tv series like Rome but much much better) needs all relatively unknown actors. We don't need no Mel Gibson, Liam Neeson, or worse, a DiCaprio or Orlanda Bloom. Then again that's my ten cents worth. :P

Just a few thoughts I've had, if I could pick any actor/actress from any time period:

Arya Stark - Anna Paquin

Ned Stark - Liam Neesan, Gabriel Byrne, or Sean Bean

I can sort of see Johnny Depp as Littlefinger, but I'm not sure.

Cersei Lannister - Nicole Kidman

Tywin Lannister: Patrick Stewart

Like I said, just a few random thoughts.

I don't know what part he'd play, but he would definitely be in MY movie! YUMMMMMM!!!! Take a look at this photo!

Good grief he's HOT. I think he looks like a young (as in not fat and drunk) Robert... a little too rugged for Renly, though.

Johnny Depp could prbly play just about any character in the books well, but the only one who looks like him is Daario.

Josh Holloway would make a good Jaime cos Sawyer in'Lost' is a lot like Jaime. On the other hand, no one looks more leonine than the Czech soccer player Pavel Nedved.

I agree cast unknowns.

Some of the beautiful young men in "Alexander," perhaps. ANd there were some definite possibilites in "troy." Yes, They were awful movies.

There were good warriors sorts in the Thirtennth Warrior

But Rutger needs a good guy part again. I'm weary of seeing him as a villain. He was so lovely in Lady Hawke.

NO Dakota Fanning.

[sIde Bar Orlando Bloom and Johhny Depp can do about anything, but not this. But I really liked Kingdom of Heaven. It was beautiful and showed us the true horror of the Crusades. What is Jerusalem worth?]

Gerard Butler, o my, yes. And the Children of the Forest agree.

I don't really see Hollywood movies doing justice to the story. If I'd get to choose, an HBO show would be the way to go.

As for casting, Evan Rachel Wood for Dany. She has kind of a vulnerable beauty to her and she can actually act. Though, she's probably too old already (She would've been perfect back when she was on Once And Again).

I'm with you. That guy would be fantastic.

Jaime: Orlando Bloom

I'm probably going to get bitched out by the LOTR junkies, but I was under the impression that Jaime Lannister was a *male* character. :leaving:
