Upcoming Cover Art II

Yeah. The art is a little too busy for my tastes. Still, I have seen worse and West's name makes it a guaranteed buy for me.

I've read the book, but I still haven't figured out who that cover picture is supposed to be.

Towers of Midnight (eBook) by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson

I take it that is Perrin? He looks too old.

Agreed, that looks fantastic, stunning. Yes the character looks far too old, but that's only a niggle compared the whole of the scene.

They should at least reprint the WOT paperbacks with these e-book covers.

He's supposed to be a few months away from 22 years old in this scene. With the harsh light... I could buy that, for his face. His body is more developed than you'd normally see in someone that age, but it's not like he's a teenager.

The WOT e-book covers as a general rule are pretty good, even measured against something other than Darrell K. Sweet's god-awful baseline.

I hate the new cover; it's pretty much exactly what I hate about most tie in covers. It's related in as much as there's an actor from the show on it, but there's precious little to suggest anything about A Song of Ice and Fire in that image.

When Dany defeats the others, marries Jon and rules Westeros happily ever after, you will retract your statement.

I imagine it was chosen based upon the brilliant marketing logic of, "Pretty girl on the cover = attracts more teenage male readers = $$$"

If I just saw that in a bookstore, though, I'd think it was a light fantasy novel about elves or something. It doesn't represent the grittiness of the actual novel.

Here's the cover for The Departure, the first novel in Neal Asher's new Owner series due in September. I really can't wait for this one, his short stories set in the Owner universe are among my favourite stories I've read.

Also, here are all the new UK covers for David Weber's Safehold series. Not so keen myself, too CGI for my liking.
