Trailer for the series in existence

Recommended Posts

As related on WiC, HBO appears to have shown a trailer for GoT for HBO investors, focusing on Eddard, Bran, Jaime, Cersei, Drogo and Tyrion. Cat and Dany were apparently not in it, due to the recasting. Effects shots of Pentos and Winterfell (the one of Pentos was apparently very impressive), a fair amount of nudity, and a shot of the Others from the pilot. Overall it sounds impressive and got a good reception, despite concerns over 'crazy' Dothraki hairstyles and costumes.

The chances of us seeing the trailer appear to be slight (due to the nudity and it being so far ahead of transmission), but good to hear of another positive reception to what was seen.

Indeed. :) HBO probably doesn't have that many new shows lined up but nice that of the 2 picked, one was aGoT. Shows they have a lot of faith in it to woo.

Why would nudity in the trqailer decrease its chances of being shown? Especially when free porn is only a click away.

But yes, I do agree it was an inside trailer and no chance of us ever being shown it. Which sucks. :(

Trailers to promote shows tend to not be in your face about nudity, sex, and violence in the U.S. They sort of show you the mid-range stuff, and not the full monty. So, in that sense, the trailer as described -- which, one should note, is a rumor since they cannot verify the person really did see it -- does not seem like it's intended for public consumption.

I'm reminded of Showtime's promo trailer for the latest season of The Tudors, in which a scene featuring Tamzin Merchant lying in bed naked had rose petals digitally placed in strategic areas to cover up her breasts, whereas they weren't there in the scene as aired. So, that's how they do these sort of things: they won't generally show nudity.

Just to clarify, the trailer's existence is not a rumor since it was announced by HBO's CEO Bill Nelson in the presentation. All of the details of what the trailer contained is though, since there's no way to verify that the commenter that provided the details is the same one that commented about seeing the trailer.

However, it seems likely that there is some nudity, because after the trailer concludes the presenter makes some joke about wanting to "add more nudity into an analyst's day." Assuming the nudity is anything explicit than it seems unlikely that the trailer shown at the investor meeting would be one that HBO would later show. At least not without some cuts or alterations.
