Brude Posted October 14, 2010 Share Posted October 14, 2010 Yeah, I assumed it was the kind of private language children of similar ages who are left alone a lot often make up - it's a fairly common thing, and always verbal. It makes more sense, too, in context, and a simple substitution code like this would have been no trouble for any Maester who got a hold of it, nor Varys or his "little birds." The fact that Catelyn mentioned that Lysa "took no chances" with this note says to me that's what GRRM meant.I don't think this was meant to be something poured over by us fans, though. It's probably seen on screen for only a few seconds, so as a prop quickly seen, it's just fine and looks great. Having a nice .jpg to play with for a bit makes it much too easy to decipher.
