What is the sex scene you want to see?

The only thing in 'Rome' I felt to be contrived was the whole affair between Servilia and Octavia.

I felt something similar with the lesbian relationship between Calamity Jane and Joanie in Deadwood. As happy as I am having getting displayed girl on girl action on my screen, I coudn't help but thinking "What the hell that comes from?"

Not even do we have no historical evidence for that,

To be fair, ancient historian weren't fond of telling about lesbian relationships. Greek and roman were pure misogynist and only talked about women's sexual life when they wanted to cast a negative light upon them, like with Messalina or Cleopatra.

Even someone whose writing talents were highly regarded like Sappho was ridiculed and demonized by roman historians, despise the fact that her lesbianism is only speculative.

Occasional sex scenes now and then are okay, but we don't really need a sex in every episode in 'Game of Thrones'. That would be over-the-top, especially as most of GRRM's sex scenes are not particularly arousing and should thus not become the usual music video with naked people on screen.

I wouldn't worried too much. Sex in HBO's shows are not as predominant as hype would lead us to believe.

Yes. In the first teaser they emphasised the horror if anything. In the second they just gave us a look at some of the characters. And in this one they showed us the North but otherwise focused on the action side.

They are not ignoring sex but its far from the main focus right now.

I remember that Dany thought that Irri's kisses were only dutiful, but apparently it was common among the Dothraki for inferior women to give their mistresses sexual pleasure. That's why Irri started the whole thing, and this is also a reason why Dany does not want it to continue. She does not want Irri to give her sexual pleasure just because she thinks she has to, and she also does not really want a lesbian relationship. Given that GRRM already declared that Dany's love life is going to become complicated, it would be really complicated indeed if Dany and her future husbands would have also had to deal with a jealous handmaiden.

Calamity Jane and Joanie were dreadful. Not just their stupid, out-of-the-blue 'relationship', I really, really disliked both characters. Calamity Jane may have been portrayed somewhat correct, but she never ever had a true story in three seasons of 'Deadwood'. They could have done something interesting with her.

And Joanie was the prototypical lesbian whore. This was really unnecessary. She had no plot, no interesting personality, and was really a waste of screentime for me. Unfortunately pretty blondes are not all it needs to convince me that a character really is alive. Compare her to Trixie. There are miles between these two.

On 'Rome': We really do know that Octavia Minor was married in 54 B.C. to Gaius Claudius Marcellus with whom she had three children. So she really lived in his house, never in her mother's, who, of course, was no scheming bitch, but a nice and quiet woman, living with her second husband in the countryside. There was no way that Servilia - a woman at the center of the Roman aristocracy - would really try to interact with these people. Not, at least, until Octavius became Caesar's heir. And that came very much out of the blue.

I like that Atia was recreated into a Fulvia-type woman, as these women were really there in Rome, and I also like the ahistorical affair between Agrippa and Octavia and the Atia-Antony-lovestory, but Servilia-Octavia just was a way to give these two women something to do in a few episodes where they did not really fit into the main story.

But we were never shown that, right? So why would we need to see it now? I'd rather not, actually. Birth, yes - Stannis gettin' his freak on, no.

I don't really remember GRRM going over how the baby was concieved. All I remember reading was Davos thinking Melisandre looking a bit different them going to the castle, and then Davos being like "WHAT THE FUCK???".

Not in so many words, but (1) Davos recognized the shadow as looking like Stannis, and (2) Melisandre later asked Davos to help her with her magic because Stannis was getting too exhausted to do it, and implied that there would be unimaginable whoopee involved.

Other than Jon's, the only sex scene I can think of that isn't weird or disturbing is Arianne/Arys.

Sorry aimlessgun (great nick!) but I hated that scene... it was soft-porn and degrading to both participants, reduced to power play. The closest I can think to a self-fulfilling wish by GRRM. But maybe I'm just peeved because Arys seemed an interesting character, he was made a POV for the porn scene (fan service?) and then killed off. Unfair, in my book. Arianne did not come out well either - just a bumbling, whiny schemer who fails at whatever she tries.

OK, with this I firmly qualify as a bitch, but I'd have preferred so much a Doran POV.

Dude, Renly/Loras! That shit is beautiful and I for one would love to see it.

Me too... if it's made tastefully. A soulful kiss and a hint of nakedness would do fine for me.

Littlefinger/lysa wasn't disturbing either imo. sure we all know what happens earlier but at the time it wasn't weird or disturbing.

We disagree then. Then again, Lysa and anyone would be disturbing to me as she is so obviously unstable and delusional. I never felt that Littlefinger cared for her at any time, so disturbing on that level as well.

Basically, a certifiable mental case and a depraved leprechaun get it on. The ratings for this show would hit the roof.

I don't know.. if the guy they cast for Stannis is hot, I really would not mind seeing it. If you pay close attention to the descriptions in the books, Stannis actually sounds pretty good looking; it's just his uptight personality that makes him decidedly unsexy. However, they could always get a hot guy to play him. For some reason I've always imagined him as the guy who played Lucius Vorenus in HBO's Rome.

Add in Melisandre to the mix (who is nothing if not hot) and you've got a potentially sexy scene. Think of Stannis as all of those years of sexual repression fall down as he surrenders himself to hot (shadow) baby makin' sex with a gorgeous priestess.

I also can't wait to see the Renly/ Loras sex scene. We simply MUST see them "praying" together... for as long as possible.

And don't forget that around that same time, Stannis and Mel had begun sharing the same tent to sleep in. Davos actually wonders if the two are having sex, but then tells himself that even thinking about this is too "impudent" on his part. And Devan also mentions that Stannis has been having bad dreams, and that Mel is the only one who can "soothe" him back to sleep. At this point Davos, remembering Mel and Stannis's shared sleeping arrangements, wonders "could the Red Woman be using some method besides prayer to soothe Stannis back to sleep?"

All of this seems to indicate that the two are sleeping together, almost surely to create the shadow baby, and probably afterwards as well.

Hmmm I always thought of Stannis as older than Kevin McKidd, but I guess all that really matters is that he be of an age intermediate between Robert and Renly, and old enough to have been an "adult" 15 years ago. Anyway McKidd is still doing Grey's Anatomy right?

Stannis should be... not particularly handsome (and certainly not pretty), but not ugly. Quite stern and badass physically (Very much not gone soft like Robert). I always pictured a young Patrick Stuart while reading. :P

Anyway its not as if it's that important that every character we see having sex be GORGEOUS. At any rate I'm sure the scene described would be really... freaky. Lots of weird ritual-y stuff going on (as well as sex). I always figured maybe Stannis was actually not totally conscious of what was going on.
