Lady Nerevar
What I want to know is what motivates a self respecting artist to produce work like that. I'm hoping that they're just phoning it in ("lets take a model, slap on some butterfly wings, paint it with a blurry blue Screen layer - these nerds won't know the difference") or having fun by making ridiculous pictures. Or maybe it's the art director's fault :shrug:I do love Unholy Night. Classy and modern.
Switchback
baen and its artists are clearly not serious with their covers. they're just having fun with the classic SFF image. they're all ridiculous, but in the good kind of way. i love that company. can't read most of the garbage they put out, but their overall mindset as a company resonates with me. plus, there are some hidden gems amongst the slop, in addition to the genius stuff of bujold. Procrastimancer
Charon's Claw by R.A. Salvatore.I stopped giving a shit about those books a while ago, but is a damn shame that they did not go with red and black as the color palette for this one. Whatever. Chances are, they will change the cover at least once more before the book's release.
Callan S.
Here is the US cover, which is similar to the UK edition. My ones are that cover type. I'd like to know which character is depicted in each.

Calibandar
Out of those the only cover I like at all is the Hoffman. Looks like Todd Lockwood did the Tom Lloyd, he sometimes has great stuff. Don't like the James Enge cover at all, very bland looking man. The Ballantine cover screams paranormal romance to me, even though the series may not even belong to that subgenre. The Cuttlefish cover screams that this is a young adult novel.
Sci-2
Jussi - thanks for this.I liked the Hunter and Fox and Lance covers, though the former should have the background male figured removed at it looks tacky.
Datepalm
holy god, that cuttlefish cover is a mess.Love the unmistakably 'WTF are we doing (on this cover)' expressions on the kids faces though.

Calibandar
Pretty, but I'm more enthused about the special edition's cover by Jae Lee, which is admittedly a totally different style.https://secure.grantbooks.com/z-sk-dt-twttk.html

Might be the worst font I've ever seen on a professionally produced book.
