You can really see the escalation as the series goes on. You listed Beric Dondarrion in the Clash of Kings list. He is permanently dead now, but it happened only after the Red Wedding, and you learn about it only in AFFC. They were all killed in the battle of the Blackwater at the end of A Clash of Kings, but Davos doesn't learn of their fate until the beginning of A Storm of Swords.
