Season 2 Casting News Soon

Westeros

There's been no word of a Camelot season 2 either way so far as I can tell.

Show doesn't need a season two, though. The show's problems were a one two punch of shitty Arthur casting and godawful writing.

I liked Eva Green's performance well enough, but other than looking fantastic naked I don't really see her as Melisandre.

All they need to do is to get rid of 'Roz' and maybe cut down the porn scenes by 90%. Then they'll have no trouble fitting the rest of the book.

I'm just curious if all the nudity haters for the show have actually read the books? Or do you just gloss over those scenes in print and pretend the books are PG rated? Much more nudity in the books than the show, IMHO. Get over it already. I don't particularly enjoy the nudity on TV, but if it wasn't there I would feel like they toned it down to appease the masses... and lets face it, the nudity doesn't hurt ratings with the 12-18 year old demographic.

On topic: Can't wait for casting news to start coming out! They really need to land a good, recognizable name for Stannis, in my opinion.

Considering that this is a show on HBO - where 12-18 year olds are not actual subscribers - this isn't particularly a good argument to increase ratings. Similarly they could add a giant green furry direwolf called Jaws McFluffy who occasionally sings and teaches us how to spell with phonemes, thus increasing the demographic of 4-7 year olds. That wouldn't be all that helpful.

Complaining about sex sequences put into the plot for basically only one reason is not the same thing as objecting to all sex scenes or sex in general.

As was discussed on the chat on WIC.net I really support the idea that we should have Ian McShane in the show. The problem is that I don't quite know which character it should be if he's to be cast in the second season. Given how much I like the actor I would like him to have a decently prominent role that doesn't die, or otherwise disappear, too quickly. It's easier to put him in later seasons but then there's the aspect of waiting, if we're lucky enough to get those seasons at all.

Yes, there's way more explicit details about sex in the books than it is on the show. I don't enjoy the nudity as such but I like shows that aren't afraid to show it as it's a more natural thing than violence and anything that could help change how uncomfortable many are with sex is good in my book. I often don't even register the nude scenes as different as the rest since there's always something else to focus on if you aren't made uncomfortable.

And that the other poster called it porn makes me wonder if he's ever seen an HBO series before? Or porn for that matter.

Well maybe it's just because I've seen the new pirates of the caribbean movie, but McShane works as Lord Balon or another Ironborn for me.

Here's my crackpot casting suggestion:

Kick off Season 2 in style by dragging Nicol Williamson out of whatever gutter he's residing in to play Cressen (assuming he makes the cut).

Cressen had better make the cut, that opening to aCoK is my favourite scene of the series! It sets the tone for the book and all the Stannis story characters perfectly, and is atmospheric and full if as much pathos as you can cram into one scene

So many good casting suggestions, however, has anybody correlated desires versus future projects? Could McShane even be available for two years in a row? Stannis and Mel are huge casting projects! Any idea when they will release the casting news? When do they actually start filming?

Balon would only be in 2 episodes, 3 max. Just saying...

My only gripe with the Roz scenes is that they don't advance the plot much. In a 10-episode season it's hard enough to cram in such a vast amount of material without Roz the Expository Whore waving her tits around for minutes at a stretch. Take the finale for example: What was the point of showing Pycelle putting on an act as a dotard, with Roz dressing through his ramble on kings, when he's on the margins of the plot anyway?

Well, perhaps. Perhaps not. But you're posting in waaaay the wrong thread here... you want to be in the GoT HBO Series, probably somewhere in the General section. This thread is more about news on future castings for Season Two as that news becomes available, and new castings are announced, not so much about complaints re the first season's casting.

I found my Stannis, Kenneth Branagh. Big name draw, acting chops and he can manage to look younger than Mark Addy.

He doesn't need to look younger. When reading I always pictured him to look much older (and for a long time I thought he was the oldest brother).

The issue with giving the role of Stannis to a big name draw is that if the series continues, he will need to be continually paid

Stannis is a re-occuring character throughout the series and will be in Dance with Dragons

So HBO would need to be comfortable doing that. Would they have signed Sean Bean if they imagined they would have to pay him for multiple seasons? Visually, Stannis will need to be tall and gaunt with dark hair and a short cropped beard. I hope they take that in consideration when they find the actor for him. They did a wonderful job with Tywin's match, so there's a lot of encouragement there.
