I gave it an 8. Didn't quite grab me as much as I'd hoped, but still very good.

The Ros/Pycelle scene was a waste. I found it impossible to follow his wheezing exposition and ended up checking facebook.

The final scene felt a little anti-climactic, and I know it's nitpicky but it's really bugging me that she didn't lose her hair. Looks a little silly, and she would have only been bald for a little while--by her second chapter in ACOK it is already growing back.

But still, a very satisfying end to a very well done series. Loved how they pulled the sheer misery onto Sansa's face. Loved to hate Joffrey. Loved Robb. Loved "Arry." Can't wait until season 2!!

I gave it a 9, although I agree, I did not like the Ros/Pycelle scene, and yes it was a waste. I did not like the the LF and Varys scene. Last but not least, I did not like the Cercei and Lancel scene. All three could have been left out. My husband is a none reader and he was getting a little confused, with reason. The last scene with Dany and the dragons was well done.

The Pycelle scene was showing how he is not the senile fool everybody thinks he is. That was a startling realization to me I had not even picked that up in the books.

So a new piece of information about the series is especially nice much less a 'wasted scene'.

Gave it a 10/10.

Many many scenes that were so well done (and showed the great quality of the actors/writers/directors!).

Here are some of my favorites:

- Cat walking through the Stark bannermen, barely concealing her pain, but as Lady Stark, she cannot afford to look weak

- Osha, Bran, Rickon (and Shaggydog!) in the crypts, great atmosphere

- Jaime confessing to Cat that he threw Bran out of the window but not telling her why (although Cat will puzzle it together by now, thanks to CSI Winterfell)

- The spiked-head scene (they even mentioned Septa Mordane), Joffrey, Sansa and the Hound were really good in there

- Departure of the Night's Watch (terrific!)

- Dany walking into the fire, that was beautifully shot

- The dragons looked sooo cool. As others mentioned, for a TV show, they're top notch!

Only complaint: The Pycelle/Roz scene seemed unnecessary and awkward. I wouldn't miss that one a bit. But that's nitpicking.

I don't really give numbers, because I'm not quite sure what scale to put it on (versus all tv - all 9s and 10s! versus what I watch? 7-10s! Versus itself?), but I thought this was an effective episode if a little slow.

The reality is that Ned's death is the season climax. This is the aftermath and denouement -- to see the effect on people and then to give hope to the fans and tantalize them for the next season. It accomplished that, I think -- the opening was devastatingly good and I think the Stark's reactions to Ned's death were all strong. And they did a good job of adding epic and uplifting to a story that is not that -- this is not Lord of the Rings -- we do not have a lot of heroic preening even when people are heroic. But the Wall and the Dragons were fantastically done and the KITN was good as well (though I'm not one of those that thought it was a particularly rousing scene).

The only misstep for me was the "plotter's scenes" in KL. The Pycelle scene, upon reflection, was interesting, but the pacing screwed me up. I mentally bailed on it before it got good. Upon rewatch, it will be fine but it was too slow to get to the impact after the general GoT pacing, which is rocket fast. And the LF-Varys scene was disappointing if only because LF put up such a weak fight -- Varys was scoring left and right and LF kept going back to the same well. C'mon, LF!

How could you miss it? It's one of the clever ploys that Tyrion has as Hand when he finds out who is leaking things to Cersei and it turns out to be Pycelle. Tyrion confronts him about being a liar and a snake and threatens to have Pycelle executed when he gets back to King's Landing in Clash.

Pycelle knows he is caught and breaks down and confesses to not even trying to save Jon Arryn's or King Robert's lives when they are on their deathbeds. Pycelle says that he has always loyally served...loyally served the Lannisters and that Tyrion must understand. Then he shockingly states that it was him who convinced the Mad King to open the gates for Tywin even though he knew that Tywin would sack the city and try to kill Aerys. Tyrion has Shagga (or Timmett?) take his axe and shave Pycelle's beard off before throwing him in a dungeon cell to rot.

Good episode. Cant complain about anything. Don't see the point of the Pycelle scene as anything except as comic relief though.

Loved the exchange between Varys and Littlefinger as last time. the way those 2 bandy words in this show is incredible. Its on the level you would expect GRRM dialogue.

Loved the Night's Watch scenes.

Im happy with the Dany pyre scene. The fact that her hair wasn't burnt off didn't detract from the power of the scene. It just cant replicate the power of that in the book as its a 50 min show of 10 episodes.

I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD.

How can anybody say that anything was wrong with the episode? It was absolutely magnificent.

Stop bashing Pycelle's scene, it served the purpose - get some info about Aerys and Robert, show that Pycelle is a cunning old b*stard. can't wait for His Grace Shagga son of Dolf chopping off his manhood and feeding it to the goats! (JOKING!!! :P)

Joffrey's acting was terrific. The boy has a talent.

I liked how Cersei was depicted when Joff was running the court - she didn't seem all that happy about her son, which made me feel bad for her. First it was drunken boar she slept with and now its sadistic megalomaniac who happens to be her firstborn... oh and what do you know: enraged Starks are holding her brother captive - It really, really, re~ally sucks to be Cersei.

Varys and Littlefinger - you gotta love those two, and I especially like these added scenes. They are the behind-the-scenes puppeteers, they are the heavyweights in this cursed game. Lord Varys wants peace and for that he is ready to renounce heroism and human virtues, Lord Petyr wants to have that which highborn ladies and gentlemen, who sneered and laughed at him, have gained by simply being born and take it for granted. For this he has to abandon morals and claw his way to the top. They are Both actors are doing magnificent job and I looked forward to seeing them and their characters in Season 2.

THE KING IN THE NORTH! THE KING IN THE NORTH! - hallelujah Mr. Greatjon! The scene was epic, and people should really stop complaining that we did not see Riverlords - did you expect writers to introduce about dozen important characters in the finale?

Somebody said that Dany's dragons look more like Wyverns. Guys, who gives a crap? Why should anyone give a crap?

Anyway, the ending was epic as well. And oh boy, was I impressed with the performance of the actress playing the witch. When reading the book I was as enraged as Dany at the woman who did this to Drogo. When watching this episode I couldn't help but agree with her - is it not kinder to kill one child to save thousands upon thousands of men from death, women from rape and children from slavery? It is. And if such future can be avoided by killing one unborn child, so be it. Which one of us wouldn't kill baby Hitler if we lived in his time and knew in advance of his future atrocities?

One thing that not a lot of people seem to be picking up on is his talking about how the Mad king went mad and then the next scene (I think?) we have Dany burning MMD alive (sound familiar?). There's a lot of very strong hinting here that Dany is a Targaryan in some bad ways as well as good. We book readers know she hasn't gone mad like the Mad King but I thought it was a great addition to keep the non-readers a little off-balance when it comes to how they view Dany.

Anyway, a few quibbles here and there but overall I liked it quite well. I hope a little more comfort and maybe a little more loosening of the purse strings will result in an even better, stronger, more confident, a wee bit more EPIC in the big-scale moments Season 2. Hats off to D&D, George, everyone else involved, we have a classic in the making here that will be remembered as something special for years to come. Just like the books.

If Ros' necessity to the show isn't clear yet to some of you, I guess you just don't care to understand.

She's obviously a vehicle for the show to get glimpses into (for now) ancillary characters while maintaining a sense of cohesiveness. She's how we learn about Theon's insecurities and overcompensation, how we get to find out Pycell isn't quite the feeble old coot we thought he was, and what makes Littlefinger tick. Yes, the scenes could have been played without a single unifying character, but none of those scenes would have played as strong without her there. It's not just some nameless, voiceless extra, it's an actual actress who knows how to listen and how to react and how to sell these moments. Roz's reaction to Pycell's rambling anecdote was what grounded the entire scene, so how could her presence be bad?

It's such a silly nitpick. And if you think it's a coincidence that the one HBO-invented character just so happens to be taking the brunt of the fan backlash, you're mistaken. People hate her for no other reason than the fact that she isn't in the books. That's it, and nothing more.

It's actually worth noting as GRRM dislikes dragons with four legs plus wings because that creature doesn't make sense from a physiological standpoint. This is how the author wants them and they are probably the most "realistic" depiction of a dragon you could have.

But that's exactly how it plays out in the book, so what's the complaint? She DOES burn MMD in the books, and the mad king DID go crazy and start burning people alive.

10.The acting was epic, every scene, except the sexposition, was an ace. And the bit of the Jaime talk we got was brilliant. The whole season has been great, but not perfect. I just hope they can find ways around the problems some of their changes have created

10. Loved it.

I was amazed that the show was able to pull off the scene where Sansa considers pushing Joffrey. It's so suspenseful in the book and I didn't think it could be done that well on screen. It was great. And finally a quality scene for the Hound.

Loved Arya threatening Hot Pie.

I really liked how the reveal of the dragons played out. If they'd had the eggs moving and glowing and crackling, viewers would have been like, "Ok, I guess they are hatching." The way the show did it, they're just suddenly revealed. I imagine that was a double-take moment for a lot of non-reading viewers.

I didn't mind the Ros scene. In fact, only one of her scenes all season has been bad... the one with Petyr's big speech. And that was only bad because it was unsexy and Littlefinger's speech was so good. It was worth listening to and paying attention to. They could have just had the camera on him and it would have been an awesome scene.
