Cotter_Pyke
Armor looking like lobster joints is my guess.
Black Crow
"lobster" armour looked a bit like a lobster's back rather than its joints, but was generally used for arms and legs - or rather thighs - where flexibility was needed. Essentially you're talking thin overlapping strips of metal riveted to straps underneath. It foesn't provide the same degree of flexibility as mail, but conversely will stand up better to both blows and arrows. Couple of examples: the armour worn on the left arm (only) by the gladiators who fought with net and trident, and Pappenheim's cuirassiers of the 30 Years War - another lot wearing the same kind of armour in the English Civil War of the 1640s were actually nicknamed Lobsters.
