honestly, if this horn appears out of the blue I will be so disappointed! so much trouble for nothing, thank you!

Sam has The Horn of Joramun. Let's think about it. What do we know about the horn? Two things:

1 - we know that Joramun used it.

2 - we know that that Mance Raider seriously searched for it, with a lot of wildlings helping.

1.1 - So, if it was used by Joramun, it is horn from the time of the First Men, before the Andals, before ironworking and most of the technology. It was a horn of the ice age, with ice age technology, not some fancy filled with runes horn.

2.1 - Mance Raider look after it, but couldn't find it, right? What if the horn wasn't already there? Benjen Stark was scouting the wildlings weird activities in the frost fangs. He could have found it before Mance Raider. If he did so, he would have fleed quickly to The Wall. However, he died before reaching it.

2.2 - Before Benjen died, he could have realized that he wouldn't reach The Wall. So, he could have hide the horn, probably burying it(best place to hide beyond the wall is beneath the snow...).

2.2.1 - Ghost found a horn, made of auroch and bronze, that doesn't make any sound when blown, together with a stack of dragonglass buried by a Night Watcher. Jon gave the horn to Sam. That horn could be the horn of Joramun.

Too much coincidence? Not with you think that the old gods can be helping these events to occur the way they did... They could influence animals, such as Benjen's horse and Ghost itself, into helping people finding and he refinding of the horn. Anyway, way less boring then "A wild Horn of Joramun appears after 5 books of hidding"...
