The girl they cast has WAY too much of a sweet look about her to pull of Asha's character (I refuse to call her "Yara", that's just stupid). I cannot look at that face and see the woman who can do the finger dance as well as any man and claims an axe as her husband and a dirk as her suckling babe. Maybe less.But Davos needs to interact with one of his sons or nobody will care what happens to them. Devan can be safely dropped.The girl they cast has WAY too much of a sweet look about her to pull of Asha's characterLets see what make-up and costuming can do. :) It can do amazing things. Just perfect, I can't wait to see his character on the screen.I think all are excellent. And Gemma Whelan can pull off a meaner look to I think, it's up to costume and make-up as Padraig said above. Asha also has a funny (albeit dark) and charming side to her, besides being the mistress of the finger dance, that fits very well with ms Whelan IMHO.I do miss "Reek" though, and Meera and Jojen, they will be missed... I'm just worried that the producers are going to muck up the plot...1. I think it's so stupid that they re-named Asha "Yara". Wtf?? All they had to do was pronounce Osha OH-sha, and Asha AH-sha. Problem solved. They look and act different, too. Do they really believe people are that stupid?2. Ok, so Rickon gets his wildling protector, whom we haven't seen at all since they left Winterfell, but they're leaving out MEERA and JOJEN? Does anyone know if they are planning not to include them? They're SUCH important characters! How will it even be possible for Bran to get north of the Wall with only Hodor????? All he can say is his name. The Reeds tell Bran all sorts of important stuff...3. I'm still really confused as to why they cast XXD, a man as pale as milk, with an African-American. (I AM NOT RACIST.) It's just....weird. Really weird.1.The renaming of Asha is pretty lame.2.Some people believe Osha is going to be the one who escorts bran north of the wall since the producers like the actor playing her. If not, they can easily introduce the reeds in season three. They can meet bran on the road and jojen can say he had a "green dream" that bran would be at this spot. Or something like that.3. XXD is not really a major character or anything so changing him won't make a big difference. I guess it gives them an opportunity to cast non-white actors for these more foreign/exotic roles. That face is chilling.The theory is that Alton Lannister is Cleos Frey. They renamed him to make it more obvious that he is a Lannister, given that the Frey's are fighting for Robb. But nothing is confirmed AFAICT.Kovaro is indeed presumably a Dothraki. There was speculation that one of the current Dothraki's may have left the show, so they threw a new one in. Im just guessing but I think this season will focus in the south: Kings Landing, Riverrun and Harrenhall - and follow Jon beyond the wall. In season one Catelyn never mentions to Robb that Winterfell needs to host two Frey wards. Plus, Little big Walder don't add a whole lot and could be problematic in casting more child actors. I'm pretty sure the sack will be in season two, as it drives a lot of key decisions of characters for season three that otherwise would also have to be delayed.
