The future of Jaime and Brienne?

Recommended Posts

Jaime is captured by Un-cat, who gives Jaime the chance to escape with trial by combat. un-cat then puts forward Brienne as her champion. Brienne will let jaime win, as a way of repaying him for saving her from the bear.

Jaime will stab Brienne through the heart with oathkeeper, and as he pulls it out, it will suddenly catch fire, and Jaime will go super saiyan, BECOMING AZOR AHAI!

IN THEIR TONGUE HE IS AZOR AHAI, FIREBORN!

I imagine they'll try to make a break for it, taking Pod along with them.

Hell, throw Gendry in there because poor Pod shouldn't have to be the third wheel.

I think something might change things like how Tyrion switched it around when he was at the Vale. Now Jaime is at Catelyn's mercy instead of Lysa.

I feel like Jaime might right a wrong here something might resolve Cat's spirit or something or a revelation that Gendry is Robert's son and have the brotherhood unite behind him in his name seeking the throne.

Jaime has got quite a story arc remaining for him as evidenced by his page in the White Book which is still two thirds empty.

I think Bran is going to intervene at his execution - which would be really ironic given that Jaime is the one that tried to kill Bran and now Bran is saving his life.

Jaime will get some mission to come and assist Jon in the North. And in this way, Lightbringer (Oathkeeper) will end up with Jon.

The rest is fuzzy, but I think something significant will definitely intervene when Catelyn tries to execute Jaime.

thats very farfetched and definitely not gonna happen, and oathkeeper doesn't emit heat so i can't be Lightbringer

I think Brienne will have to kill UnCat since she loves Jaime, Jaime hasn't broken his oath to Cat really, blahblah, and Brienne will see what its like to break a vow and kill someone she swore her sword to. Cat is the Mad King. Some of the Brotherhood are down with her ruthlessness, but I doubt people like Gendry are going to be wholeheartedly supportive. Especially since Brienne just saved the people at the inn and is committed to telling Gendry that he's Robert's bastard. This confrontation is going to let a lot of things climax and culminate a lot of plot points to where Jaime and Brienne are leading the Brotherhood Without Banners. The Lannister Reign is over. Jaime's basically forsaken it when he chose not to go back and rescue Cersei from the Great Septon and the Sparrows. Moves the pieces around and ties some of them together. Makes revelations and changes other characters. Simplifies the game for the end game just a little. Brienne might be killed, though, just to cut down on POVs.

For weeks.

With Medieval comm (even with ravens), that is not that hard.

However he really likely ain't dead. However I think he will stay in Riverlands, redeeming himself in the eyes of UnCat and BwB by moving against Freys. After all how better get access to Twins or Riverrun than with Jaime, with a small escort of Lannister troops, seeking shelter from band of outlaws just at their heels...

I may have to go back and reread but I thought the only reason Brienne got a trial was because of her fight at the Inn. Otherwise they would have just hanged her and her companions. And during the trial, the evidence against her is pretty damning. Intentions aside, in actuality, she didn't do anything for Cat's daughters. She failed, never found the Stark sisters, and Jaime (who got her to do his work) did not pay his debt to Cat. It's like he's forgotten all about it. All he's doing is cleaning up his father's unfinished tasks now. Just like a Lannister. He might try fooling himself into thinking he's changed and now prizes honor, but he's still a Lannister.

I hope he gets hanged. Let Lannister blood flow freely in the streets.

I dunno. Showing up with a battalion at the siege at Riverrun... isn't that the definition of taking up arms? And regarding Tyrion's promise of prisoner exchange with Catelyn and we know how that went. Just like always, the Lannisters got what they wanted, and Catelyn didn't get squat. Do the Lannisters always pay their debts? Really? Hang him, Cat! Brienne, you can watch.

if jaime demands a trial by champion, cat will make him fight fire like her father-in-law was made to.

As someone said previously, Jaime has been missing for months in the story and so the fact that his body hasn't shown up anywhere is convincing enough that he wasn't killed

When GRRM kills someone he lets you know it: Ned, Catelyn, Robb, Tywin, Joffrey, Renly, Drogo, Lysa, Quentyn, Oberyn to name just a few.

When he makes it look like someone is dead but leaves an out, you really know they are alive: Davos on the Blackwater and in White Harbour, Bran's fall, Arya with Yoren in KL and with the Hound at the Twins, Bran and Rickon's murder by Theon, Gregor after his duel, Jon after the assassination.

When characters disappear it's more ambiguous - Benjen Stark, I'm thinking of you - maybe Tyrek & Gerion Lannister, even Jon Connington or Ashara Dayne.

I am pretty sure we will witness whatever happens to Jaime. GRRM just didn't fit it or want it in the already longer than intended ADWD.

and Ramsay's death, too.

Jaime and Brienne's fates are intertwined since both of them have a debt to the now deceased Catelyn Stark. Now that UnCat is in the picture, I can only see her seeking vengance against Jaime for Bran.

That being said, I think that Brienne and Jaime will both survive the last 2 books. The way it looks to me is that both of them are on some moral journey to redemption (Jaime for his past crimes, and Brienne for not finding Arya or Sansa).

I am very curious to see how all these subplots will intertwine with the main stories going on.

Yes!!!! this post I like. I feel the same way. Brienne will lead Jaime to UnCat, and while deciding what to do with him, he will see what UnCat's purpose is, she wants justice for the Red Wedding. So jaime will come up with the plan to Trojan Horse the Freys, with himself as bait. Isn't Tom'oSevstrings already there or something? Or maybe he's at Riverrun. anyway Jaime is going to help Uncat and the BWB get back at the Freys. Brienne and especailly jaime have a lot left to do before they are killed. She is his redemption. Everything that is rotten and terrible about Cersei is the exact opposite of Brienne, Cersei has made Jaime evil, they committed terrible sins when having those 3 children and eventually all his sins will make him hate her so much, seems like he has already chosen to leave his family and do the right thing.

Brienne will die eventually and then and only then will Jaime leave to go hunt down his dear sister and fulfill Maggie's prophecy.

Could it be possible that they finnaly get a hint that Arya went to Braavos so they follow her and find Tyrions wife on the way?

It's interesting that Brienne saw Titan's Daughter leaving Westeros.

It's interesting that Brienne saw Titan's Daughter leaving Westeros.

But she had no way of knowing that ship has any significance to her. Poor Brienne's whole arc in AFFC is an exercise in futility that leads her dangling from a rope :crying:
