[Book spoilers] Where is Salladhor Saan?

So where was Sallador San in the battle? They bothered to include him in a single scene in episode two, yet not show him in the actual battle.

Maybe he will be in episode 10, escorting Stannis back to Dragonstone, but anyone could do that. Why bother casting the role if he's not going to have any significance on the plot?

Hmm...tbh I forgot about him. He didn't really play a roll in the battle. But they could have shown him on a ship watching the fight. He'll most likely show up next week.

I also hope the show gives him a slightly larger roll than the book does. He seems like a good character.

Yeah, if they don't have him finding Davos floating or out on the little islets, it's almost pointless to have introduced him at all. And with the way he languishs in luxury and counsels Davos, I would miss that.

I think he will have a larger role in the aftermath of the defeat, since he will probably be the one taking Stannis back to Dragonstone and effectively Stannis' fleet Admiral. While as others mentioned there is a high chance he saves Davos as well, additionally Stannis is in his debt so I'm pretty sure he will play even a bigger role in the future than he has in the books.

Sallador remained outside of Blackwater Bay, so they stayed true to the book by not including him. His task was to guard the rear and, when the battle was lost, to pick up any survivors.

I think one sentence in the dialog would have been nice to have.

yeah should have been mentioned. but it should have been last episode or the one before. just a quick scene with saan mad at davos for putting him in the rear because he will miss the best plunder would be a nice character note and an explanation of why he isnt in this episode when we had that scene of davos convincing him to go to KL.

I think it was an awkward situation that GRRM decided to avoid addressing personally, since the previous writers made Davos leader of the attack and in the books Davos notes that it was foolish for Ser Imry Florent not to use Salidor and his extremely experienced sea men, but instead keeping them as a rear guard because he didn't trust them.
