Lord Leyton
Just think about it, Bernard would be absolutely perfect as a veteran soldier and senior adviser for the young Robb. He is also old enough to be believable as Catelyn's uncle.
Mediumjon Umber
As awesome as Bernard Hill was in LotR he honestly doesn't have the right build for the Blackfish. I don't remember the precise quote but wasn't it said that BF was "long and lean" or something along that line? Whereas Hill is short and stocky. kissdbyfire
Well, Bernard Hill is so good he'd be excellent in any role. I would love to have him playing any role in GoT. I thought about him (can't remember where I posted it) for Marwyn or Tormund too. As long as he's in it, I'll be happy. :P

I mean Catelyn is hardly beautiful, Tyrion isn't ugly enough etc, I think that Bernard Hill would be very good for the role since he has that look of wisdom and experience. Mediumjon Umber
Well, I would go so far as to say that the majority of characters have been very well cast. Just look at Tywin or Arya or Ned or Jaime or Jeor or Dany or Renly or Stannis or Jorah or Brienne or Sansa or Barristan. Spot on. The only ones I can think of now that don't fit the description is Lysa Arryn (orwhatsherface) and Xaaro. It's all a matter of opinion really. But this isn't what the thread is about. So I bid you farwell.
Carne
By pick would be Peter Mullan, but they might want someone a bit taller and more physically imposing.
Arkash
Peter Mullan was great in Children of Men and Harry Potter, he'd be a great Blackfish.
Conor
What about Pierce Brosnan? I think he would make a great Blackfish. Just a thought.
HouseofStark
i don't think pierce brosnan or peter mullan could pass as catelyn's uncle. i think the op is right on the money when he suggested bearnard hill. so far the casting director has done a fantastic job, and so i trust them, but if i could pick anyone off the top of my head, bernard hill would be my choice. he may not match the physically description to a T, but he has the look of a man (at least from LOTR) who has seen much of war and a man that others would follow. i like the pick. So I bid you farwell.Jorah, Tywin and Renly, at least, don't really look anything like how they're described in the books. Jorah is supposed to be a big, ugly, balding, bear of a man. Tywin is supposed to be blond, stocky, and have huge mutton chops. He's also about ten years younger than Dance. Renly is supposed to be incredibly handsome and well-built. Gwendolyn Christie is prettier than Brienne is described as being, Stephen Dillane is considerably less bald than Stannis. And, of course, they're going to have to get someone older than the Blackfish is described as being in the books, because Michelle Fairley is 10-15 years older than Catelyn is in the books. AsoiafFTW!
the age doesn't really matters. but i don't want a 45 yo blackfish.

Fightbringer
bernard hill is a in my opinion a bit too much for such a relatively small role, if he was ever in GoT it'd have to be as a major character, and even then he'd be a suprise casting. Peter Mullan would also be my pick, but i'm unsure if even having him is pushing it slightly. I hope that whoever they cast, that they're good

I know it would never happen-- he could never pull off the accent, nor does he look Tully, but his whole cool and quiet badass demeanor is exactly the kind I imagine Ser Brynden to possess. There seem to be a lot of people who think that because an actor had a supporting role in Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, that makes them a big name actor who Game of Thrones couldn't possibly get except for major roles. This comes up with Osha, too.
Ser Dermett Corbray
Whenever I imagined Hoster Tully in the books, I always imagined a guy so close to death he looked like Theoden before Gandalf rescued him. Ironic you guys should suggest him as Hoster.
