Budj
Interesting. I thought a poster said Barristan recovered Blackfyre after putting down the last male Blackfyre...probably a mistake.
rmholt
Interesting. I thought a poster said Barristan recovered Blackfyre after putting down the last male Blackfyre...probably a mistake.Wiki says unknown if the Golden Company took it home with them or not. They got Maelys' head, obviously.Interesting Blackfyre is a bastard sword. Hm wonder if it wandered up to Bear Island? Or just another parallel like the Rat King/Frey pies. Gives even more circumstantial evidence to Jon's future royalty.
nothatso
The sword is either lost or in the possession of the Golden Company (the GC was founded by Daemon and Bittersteel)....It is said that if Blackfyre is with the GC may end on Aegon's hands and will put more fuel on the "Aegon is a Blackfyre" theories as the sword is now associated with the Blackfyre bastard line.I'm not sure I'm sold on this. The last person to wield Blackfyre was Maelys the Monstrous, who was killed by Barristan. I have a hard time believing Barristan would just leave it there after defeating him. The battlefield is a chaotic place certainly, but that seems like something he would go out of his way to retrieve. While there is a chance to Golden Company recovered it, I think it's more likely in westeros. Some have theorized it was taken to Summerhall (which was destroyed the same year that Maelys was slain), a place Rhaegar spent a great deal of time at... Bushido
Interesting new data with graphic novel scans :D However,I have to wonder why GRRM approved such a light shade of Jon's grey eyes, when it was stated that they are a shafe so dark it resembles black. So,his grey could be a nod to indigo, rather than lilac. Oh well,we spent so much time on eye colour, and we know how much GRRM cares about that :)
Ribupr
Sam the Slayer is the real son of Lyanna and Rhaegar. He is AA reborn, PtwP, and the next King of Westeros...................god I wish. Sam is BOSS.
Alia of the knife
Just scanned a few images from the Graphic Novel.Let's start with Ned:http://www.imagebam....737d53200280840Jon, Bran and Robb:http://www.imagebam....b4914a200280850Jon and Arya:http://www.imagebam....d7df36200280862Sansa:http://www.imagebam....a76075200280880Another image of Lyanna, on her deathbed:http://www.imagebam....f23b2f200280912And finally the second image of Rhaegar, at the Trident, brestplate, rubies and colours more accurate ;) :http://www.imagebam....5f6530200280988Okay, home from work now, :) and have had time to really look at them. It's pretty deliberate I think, that Jon actually looks NOTHING like Ned, (though Neds hair should be darker, because the rest of his children look like the Tullys, but with the current color, he almost looks like a Tully).I think another color "boo boo."But definitely, very different from Ned. Also, Arya is a very pretty little girl, so I think another hint there to what she will develop into as an adult. On Jon, I actually had to drag out my Dunk & Egg graphic novel, and the images of Aerion Brightflame are too goofy, or I should say exgagerated to tell anything as he too was supposed to look like Viserys, but there are several images of one of Baelor Breakspears sons, and there is also a resemblence between he and Jon.He might have Lyannas coloring, but he definitely has Targaryen attributes. As someone that watched the show before I read the books this always stood out to me.
Lady Octarina
Btw, I was just re-reading Arya's conversation with Edric Dayne and only now I've noticed that there's something seriously wrong with the cover-up story his family told him. He tells her Wylla is Jon's mother, and he also tells her that Ashara and Ned feel in love in Harrenhall. I'm sorry, but, wtf? What kind of man is Ned Stark according to this conversation? lolAnyway, I was wondering what you make of it. I suppose the part about Wylla being Jon's mother might have been told by Wylla herself, since she was Edric's wetnurse. He says it was his aunt Allyria that told him about Harrenhall. We don't know how old she is, she could have been too young back then to remember correctly, but I still think it's strange that she would say it was Ned if it had been Brandon (though I still think it was Brandon). And, curiously, no mention of Ashara's pregnancy. Hmm...

Hmm...Yes, but IMHO, I think it was awfully "impolitic" of Ned to go running and telling Arya her Father's "other life."I would have been WTF, why are you telling me this, (puts fingers in ears). :stillsick: So, Ned could be the typical guy that may be trying to impress Arya by saying all the wrong things.Instead of ingratiating himself with her with the connections between their two families, he did the opposite and upset her.Gendry also didn't like Ned, so either he was jealous of Ned and Arya, because that's the first, tangible indication of a social barrier between the three of them, (and yes, they are all a little young to be entertaining romantic ideas about the other though many of these things begin in childhood), or Ned got on Gendrys nerves with talking too much. And talking too much equals too much information, and too much information means getting too much wrong. :dunce:

Barristan likes the rules of chivalry, doubt he'd steal it. Although the battle was single combat they werent the only two people there. Selmy had to cut his way through an army to get to Maelys. Unless I was mistaken, Brandon was betrothed to Catelyn at that time, so no dishonor. In fact, it might even be in the passage you are referencing, later on when Arya talks to someone else about it. Lady Tippy Wolfsbane
Thats true, and it stood out to me too.It could be that Ned was the odd man out in that pack of beautiful wolves.Probably, purposely so. It's a pretty large clue to R+L=J to non-book readers.
