Rhymes of Ice and Fire V12

Howling Mad

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the twelth installment of this wonderful thread full of creative genius!

Here we want to appreciate the greatness that is the Song of Ice and Fire, by creating rhymes about everything that deserves to be immortalized in a song. Brave fights, eventful weddings, loved characters and everything in between.

Just some advice – please do not use derogatory terms to describe characters. Oh, and one more thing, everything you write should be based on the story, or at least on widely accepted speculation, like R+L=J for example. GRRM does not like fanfiction, so we will NOT write any!

My original post from Version 1:

Wow! Great job  And because it has to be said in every. damn. thread:

WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE! :commie:

And now, a song:

/To A Brother, Arya to Jon  (no shipping goat dammit!)

And you said, "I'll give you something

You don't want to lose"

I said, "Brother, I'll give you everything I got

It's you I'm to choose"

Then I got on a horse and flew

Far away from you

Though unwillingly I left

And it was so, so hard to do

The streets there at home had rapidly filled up

With the whitest of snow

And they don't make no excuse for themselves

And there's no need, I know

Now I miss you more than I can take

And I will surely break

And every morning that I wake

Gods, it's the same

There's nothing more to it

I just get through it

Oh, there's nothing more to it

I just get through it

It always takes me by surprise

How dark it gets this time of the year

And how apparent it all becomes

That you're not close, not even near

No matter how many times I tell myself

I have to be sincere

I have a hard time standing up

And facing these fears

But Dad put it best when he said

"The pack must be the heart"

Those words keep me on my feet

When I think I might just fall apart

Now I miss you more than I can take

And I will surely break

And every morning that I wake

God, it's the same

There's nothing more to it,

I just get through it

Oh, there's nothing more to it

I just get through it

Oh, there's nothing more to it

I just get through it

And so I ask where are you now

Just when I needed you

I won't ask again

Because I know there's nothing we can do

Not now, brother, you know it's true

My very first rhyme got 18 likes

"You were sworn to another",

"But I love her, Mother".

"The Late Lord Frey

Will certainly make you pay.

He is old and weak

But he can still make you squeak.

The Young Wolf you may be

But only a boy do I see.

We need the Twins, we must pass

But first you must kiss Frey's arse."

Really guys, really? I hope I've gotten better!

I'm off to bed

Goodnight lovely thread

Going to read with dread

A book I've already read

ADWD :D Is this the time I finally finish my reread, without picking up a different book? Ser Onion, wherever you are, you have a lot to answer for, Mr Give It Another Chance

I can't believe it took me 2 whole days to contribute a poem! This was effort number one.

All right, my humble effort, with deepest apologies to Keats.

Oh what can ail the Knight at arms

Riding through the war scarred lands

The crops were burned the lambs lay dead

And no birds sing.

Oh what can ail the Knight in white

Heart ached with thoughts of broken love

His golden hair touched now with gray

Love's ice within.

He met a lady long ago

His sister true to tell the tale

Her golden hair, her emerald eyes

La belle dame sans merci.

Oh what can ail the imp who roams

Across the lands and seas so far

His scarred face hides him not from harm

A dragon calls.

Oh what can ail the imp so small

Who's heart now grows so hard alone

He seeks revenge for hurts and lies

No love for him.

He met a lady long ago

His sister true to tell the tale

Her shining eyes glowed in fire's light

La belle dame sans merci.

Oh what can ail the stranger's heart

The one who comes to see her soon

So long ago a witches words

Named him full true.

Oh what can make the stranger's hands

To wrap around the sweetest throat

To end the pain of aching hearts

Of two men true.

He'll meet a lady very soon

Full beautiful a golden child

He'll be the valonqar she fears

La belle dame sans merci.

And this is why the Knight at arms

His brother imp so far away

They wake at night so cold and pale

And no birds sing.

Jon's Lament

I don't know, but it's been said

Others are coming and they're bringing the dead

I don't know, but I've been told

Winter is coming and its growing cold

He-ey Dany

Dragon packing Dany

Get off your pity-pot and help me

Save humanity

He-ey Cersei

Brother fracking Cersei

Get over yourself and help me

Save humanity

He-ey Ironborn scum scrum

Pud-dle pirate Ironborn scum scrum

Get in your boats and help me

Save humanity

He-ey High Septon

Tell your warrior sons

To pick up their swords and help me

Save humanity

Edit - didn't want to be in violation of my own OP rules

My first wholesome poem ever

Red Wedding - Edmure's POV

My King and my Uncle say

"For your mistakes you must pay.

It's arranged, marry Roslin Frey,

Lord Walder must now have his way.

"

My opinion, they did not seek

Was my bride fair and sleek?

Or homely and lacking teeth?

I didn't know, still they made me go

Time was not for me to be weak.

On arrival, I'd never believe!

Roslyn was comely, what a relief!

And yet she wept, I didn't know why

For now I'd love her 'til the day I died.

The wedding took place, the feast proceeded

I felt now happy, got all that I needed

Those awful songs? That poorly meal?

Didn't care much, did my part of the deal.

It was time for the bedding, how I longed for it

Naked in the chamber, with all candles lit

Roslyn was there, and oh, what a sight!

Drowned in happiness! Yet, oblivious, and blind....

When all was done, I got my wish

A lovely wife, and no floppy fish!

But soon I found out 'twas nothing but lies

Beneath this chamber, my King, Robb, dies.

Despite the salt and the bread,

Thousands perished that night,

No offense goes past the Freys

Not even under Guest Right.

And now they hold me captive,

A hostage by seed and by chains,

No king, no sister, no army,

Nothing else remains...

And my most acclaimed one, IIRC:

The Freys - Slay our Guest!

(to Beauty and the Beast's

"Be Our Guest"

)

Walder Frey:

My lords, King in the North, it is with deepest pride

and mayhaps pleasure that we welcome you tonight!

And now we invite you to relax, let's put down your sword

as all Freys in the room proudly presents - you betrayal!

The Freys:

Slay our guest! Slay our guest!

Put our treason to the test!

Tie your direwolf outside, my lord

And we will provide the rest!

Soup du jour - hot king's blood!

Why, you slighted us to mud!

Try the vengeance

It's amazing

Don't believe us? Ask Lord Tywin!

We can undo what we swore

After all, m'lord, this is war!

And we're tired of being less than second best!

Go on, take salt and bread

Soon you'll all be worse than dead

Slay our Guest

Slay our Guest

Slay our Guest!!!

First some arrows

Then a stab

A greatsword right through your heart

All your army burns outside

You should have never changed your bride!

Cat's alone

And she's scared

But the butchery's all prepared

No Frey's gloomy or complaining

While the singers are entertaining!

We know it's time when we hear

Good ol' Rains of Castamere!

The Red Wedding's going forth

That is no jest!

Come on, Freys, lift your glass

We won't let this slight pass

Let's slay our guest!

If you're stressed

Eternal sleep's what we suggest!

Slay our guest

Slay our guest

Slay our guest!

Walder Frey:

Life is so frustrating

For a vassal always serving

We need someone who puts us on higher status

Ah, back in the days you thought we're useful

Suddenly all your promises are gone

So many years I've been ignored

Being mocked by other lords

I need alliances, a chance to marry off my prole!

One day you come with your King's word

You seemed quite right on track

And then you stab us in the back!

Black Walder:

He's a guest! He's a guest!

And his uncle we'll arrest!

Freys are ready, so is Roose

Cold revenge on its best!

I faintly hear Catelyn's plea

It's such a lovely sound to me!

While the bards are badly playing

I'll be stabbing, I'll be killing!

Outside's chaos, smokin' hot

Seven Hells, oh what a plot!

Keep on going! We want Lord Tywin impressed!

We've got a lot to do!

And murder Greywind, too

Let's slay our guest!

Slay our guest!

Slay our guest!

Slay our guest!

The Freys:

Slay our guest! Slay our guest!

Anything King Joff requests

It's been years since we've got some respect

And we're obsessed

With your folly, with your slight

We'll even break the damned Guest Right

While the bedding is still going

A true bloodbath will be flowing

Lord by lord, one by one

'Til Walder shouts "They've all been done!"

Then we'll sew your wolf's head in your still-warm body

Tonight we'll end your cause

And we'll break all the laws

To slay our guest!

Slay our guest!

Slay our guest!

Gods, let's slay our guest!

Ok, people... Don't laugh! Or at least not too hard!

This took me days. And I almost used 'falafel', that's how hopeless I am! :P

There once was a maid from Winterfell

Whose beauty and grace were without parallel

But a wicked evil queen

To her was so mean

That the maid took to calling her Jezebel

I hate July, it's hot as hell

Holy shit! We're up to 12?

I shouldn't belive it, and give Howling a yell

But he went mad and put all the others up on a shelf

So I must belive him like it's Jeyne Poole

Sansa rhyme by kissdbyfire? That's very cool

ETA. M'Lady, lol, love your quote

, yet another First Aid Kit song.

Well the pale morning sings of forgotten things

I play a tune for those who wish to overlook

The fact that they've been blindly deceived

By those who preach and rule and teach

But I fall short and the night explodes in laughter

Don't you come here and say I didn't warn you

About the way your world can alter

And oh how you try to command it all still

Every single time it all shifts one way or the other

And I'm a goddamn coward, but then again so are you

And the lion's roar, the lion's roar

Has me running and hollering for you

And I never really knew what to do

Well I guess sometimes I wish you were a

Little more predictable

That I could read you just like a book

But now I can only guess what's coming next

By examining your hidden smile

And the ways of the old, cold winds blowing you back 'round

And I'm a goddamn coward, but then again so are you

And the lion's roar, the lion's roar

Has me writing and hollering for you

I love you, I love you, I love you

Sometimes I wish I could sit atop Aegon's Hill

I'd sit there and look at the deserted town and I'd sing

And every once in a while I'd sing a song for you

That would rise above the mountains and the stars and the sea

And if I wanted it to, it would lead you back to me

And the lion's roar, the lion's roar

Is something that I have heard before

A children's tale, the lonesome wail

Of a lion's roar

Welcome kissedbyfire! So good to have you here. And your ryhme is just fine!

One I jotted down. It feels so scattered and incomplete, but I dunno what else to add :-/

Burning, burning, burning

All of Winterfell is Burning

Our good Lord Eddard has lost his head

And Ironborn have taken his place

Now both of our sweet princes are dead

The Iron scum has flayed their faces

Burning, burning, burning

All of Winterfell is burning

Where towers stood and children played

All that remains are ruins

The bannermen came, but then betrayed

And killed everyone within
