White Luck Warrior XI: 11 Hells down, 100 to Go

Has anyone tired to write up some Earwa related raps? At minimum, I swear something to the tune of "Prince of Bel Air" should be doable.

In the heart [of] Ishual I was born and raised

Under the shadow of the Consult I spent most of my days

Yoking my Legion an' trying to stay cool

Learning 'bout Logos in my Dunyain School

When my [Cishaurim] daddy, who was [up] to no good

Starting sending dreams [back] to my neighborhood

Fucked with our Mission, so the Pragmas got scared

So And I was sent to kill kick my dad Moe in the rear

...that's all I got so far.

Heh. Funny idea.

I am doing a reread of The Judging Eye right now, and while I dont know if I've encountered "ever are men deceived," I've encountered a couple "ever do men..." and another "ever are men..."

So maybe TJE was where we started to latch on to this trend rather than WLW?

Random thought on something that may have come up in the past. So we know that The Tusk was actually given by the Consult or the Inchies at least. Was the Old Prophet Angeshrael (sp) sent by them as well or was he just some prophet who was good at interpretation?

That's how benjuka's played,

Another sinner slayed, the Topos deep

And they're linin' up to get flayed.

My education's weak but I got Tekne,

Raised like a Wracu, my heart pumps Qirri.

Sleep on silk, lie like a politician,

Logos my best friend, cold as a mortician.

Lock me up, it's genocidal catastrophe,

There'll be another one after me,

A Kellhus.

K-E-L-L-H-U-S Kellhus..

ya ever note it's always ever are MEN, and MEN are, never women.

Perhaps we should ask, 'ever are philosophers deceived' because they're all men, eh? As I asked in the Ch. 10 thread at the other forum, does nihilism have an inherent masculine bias?

Is it getting better?

Or did you go insane?

Didn't make easier on you, did it?

Heart butchered by a Dunyain.

You say "One Steppe."

"One life"

Carving swazond...

...with a knife

One quest

We get to share it

And Moenghus

Wont care for it

His wicked son, he found you

It's happening again

All their words are poisoned

Like visions in your head

Did I ask too much

Gave up your prize?

Anything to make sure Moe dies?

We're one,

But we're not the same

cause

You're Scylvendi and

I'm a Dunyain

Did he disappoint you?

Leave a bad taste in your mouth?

You act like the step is trackless

And you now need to go without

Well it's too late

Tonight

To flee the Mansion into the light

Our mission's one

But we're not the same

cause

You're Scylvendi

and I'm a Dunyain

You say...

War is conviction

War is black as pitch

War is The People

Kellhus is a witch

You ask me to take you

But then you lose your mind

And I can't keep going on

With what you've got

When all you've got is hurt

One love

One blood

One Moe, you've got to do what you should

One life

With each other

Cnaiur

Father

One life, but you're not the same cause

You're Scylvendi and he's a Dunyain

Haha.....

Haha...yeah...yeah...

Haha....

Haha....

End

Well from the texts, we've met 3 Erratics aside from Mekeritig in the flashbacks. The one in the short story, the one in the beginning, and Cleric. The short-story Nonman and Cleric do not shout, "I WILL REMEMBER!" they're just sorta disoriented and confused all the time. We know Mekeritig is pretty memory-shouty, which would lead us to identify the beginning Nonman as possibly Mekeritig.

We were told by the author directly. It was never verified in the book. Bakker was actually a bit upset later that he revealed that.

Imagine if we hadn't had that reveal from Bakker. We'd have gone mad trying to figure out who he was.

sologdin - It will be interesting to see if and how the connection is eventually made in a way that it can be gleaned from the text that it was actually Mek.

Mek scries them or he and Kellhus meet in person. I get the feeling TUC is going to be epic.

I sort of hope Esmi's arc is only a minimal part of the last book. It's the weakest arc by a mile, and whatever feminist-to-Bakker-at-least message is left to be squeezed from that stone can hopefully be wrapped up ASAP so we can have more actual story.

That prologue does scream for a rematch between Kellhus and Mek, doesn't it?

  • 2 weeks later...

Viking/Overlook Summer 2013 catalog doesn't include The Unholy Consult. Overlook is Bakker's US publisher.

http://booksellers.p...ng-summer13.pdf

Amazon.co.uk moved the release date to July 2014.
