My name is Reek
Injury didn't look too bad (just pulled up sore halfway through his run-up), but he went off almost immediately and was nowhere to be seen afterwards. It's a massive blow given that he was by far the pick of the bowlers in the first session - even if he bats it's still like losing a specialist for the entire game.Maybe a hammy or back problem? Looks like Quiney will be the first one dropped unless he gets an outrageous score in the second innings.
Paxter
Warner closing in on 100, not much going SA's way in this series. They've now lost three of their best XI to injury, including two frontline bowlers.
Xray the Enforcer
Shit -- is the session over already? Or is it still going on?nm -- looks like it is still going on. I've missed so many damned matches this year due to weird time differences...
Paxter
It's early in the second session...Warner blasting the Proteas all over the place.ETA: With Kallis now unlikely to bowl again this match, it's a great strategy to get after Tahir. Not enjoying this, but full credit to Australia.
Xray the Enforcer
A Warner-Clarke partnership. That should be interesting.
Xray the Enforcer
I should mention that I threw the gauntlet on my latest column that I write for my publication. I publicly stated that I was a cricket fan to our 2.5+ million mostly American readers. Let's see if anyone gives me stick for it.

My name is Reek
Century to Warner and Clarke looking good once again, despite having a close call with a shot through slips just before.

The Winged Shadow
Haha good work Xray!!I've closed Cricinfo now. Can't watch this carnage anymore :bang:.I've closed it cause the glorious carnage was distracting me from work. I was playing Cricket Bingo in my head :PLets hope the SA doesn't do the same to Aussie bowlers...
Paxter
At least Warner perished. Hoping for the same for Clarke, but the more likely scenario is 150* by close of play :worried:.

Xray the Enforcer
I know Clarke has a lot of detractors, but watching him get that triple century was rather satisfying for an outsider. :)
Paxter
Satisfying in a kind of...grotesque and perverse way??Bah, kills me to say it, but he's really not that bad...I just generally despise the vast majority of individuals who have donned that Baggy Green during the last two decades :ohwell:. My name is Reek
I know Clarke has a lot of detractors, but watching him get that triple century was rather satisfying for an outsider. :)He never was one of my fav players (mainly for his off field stuff). Since he got the captaincy he has been an absolute beast though, I'm converted. Now he just brought up his century :D

My name is Reek
The whole of the break was spent talking about Ricky Ponting...his career stats, achievements (golden years) and dismissals, not looking good for him. His been brilliant in Shield cricket though..
The Winged Shadow
Gayle and Powell gone, WI 43/2. Those two did a number on us the last match. Still a way to go, but with Gayle gone it should slow the run rate...I hope!

His been brilliant in Shield cricket though..After his performances last summer and the dearth of obvious replacements at number 4, I'm not sure he has much to worry about. Paxter
This is probably the worst first day of a test match that SA has ever experienced. Two premier players injured and the attack clobbered.
