When casting Jon Connington, it seems to me that the show has a lot of potential great actors that could fill the part, they can also be quite flexible with age because the Jon doesnt HAVE to be of a same age of Rhaegar, he could certainly be fairly older or maybe even a little bit younger. I presume that the role cant be filled by anyone but a white actor because of Young Griff posing as his son, as much as I would like to see someone like Idris Elba or Colin Salmon in the role.

This also seems like one of the last major chances apart from Euron and Victarion to cast a kind of big-star-badass character as it would probably be season 5

Potential Connington's could be:

James Purefoy - http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0700856/ - It seems like fans have wanted him on the show for so long either as Jon, Oberyn, Mance or Euron. I hope he gets one of these roles because he would be incredible in it.

Kevin Mckidd - http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0571727/ - woiuld perhaps be my preferred choice for Connington, would just love to see him in the show, Ideal situation would be to have both him and Purefoy with major roles, but I kind of doubt it happening.

Dominic West - http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0922035/ - The guy I REALLY wanted to be Mance from as soon as I read the character. He could probably play the washed up Connington pretty well, would love to see him on the show and perhaps this would be his best chance at a role out of who we have left.

Ray Stevenson - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0829032/ Would be perfect for Victarion perhaps but he could also pull of this role if he doesn't get big Viccy.

Christopher Eccleston - http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0001172/ Another fairly big name that could fill the part though I would prefer one of the others.

Jason Issacs http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0005042/ Once again, another incredible choice for the role, he could perhaps be Euron or Randyl Tarly too.

Ian McShane http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0574534/ I am not opposed at all to ageing Jon up quite considerably, I don't think it would make much difference to the character and Ian would excel at any role he was given, kind of want him for a Greyjoy though.

Sean Pertwee http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm0675730/ bit of a cheaper wildcard option, but I like him and feel he is underrated. He, however, would be awesome as a Kettleblack/frey/nightwatch members

There are probably loads more options too....

I'd have to pick Kevin McKidd for JonCon. Hes Scottish and has reddish-hair (even if its dyed blue most of the time).

But Christopher Eccleston? Oh yes. Very talented man, could probably play any of the roles that still need filling. I could see him as a good Mance, he has that vigor that a good Mance would need.

But Ciaran Hinds has already been casted as Mance

I like the idea of Purefoy for Oberyn, though I also wouldn't mind seeing Stephen Moyer as Oberyn, and I'd possibly prefer Purefoy for Connington. Regardless, I'd like to see all the actors listed above putting in an appearance.

Aegon is, supposedly, the son of a Dornishwoman. Jon Connington's ethnicity could therefore be the same as Elia Martell's, and he would still be capable of producing a pale child.

if he's as good as he is in homeland I reckon Damian lewis would be quite good as he'd be about the right age and he's got the right hair and looks the part

Hulu has season 1 and 2 of his show "Life" available. It's the only role I've seen him in...but he doesn't scream JonCon to me in it.
