Distorted Humor
Every time I read the book I have the same idea pop in my head.Jaqen H'ghar = Syrio ForelI know that its a stupid idea, and that most likely Syrio Forel pulled a Ducan Idaho and died letting Ayra excape. However it is how Syrio always called Syra "Boy" and Jaqen says the same thing to her, as if in both cases he knows she not really a boy, and H'ghar shows he Spoiler can change his looks. lozeldatkm
The spoiler is from which book? The end of CoKI'll just say... thats actually somewhat of a cool theory. One I've never heard before. And best yet, I see no reason it can't be true...
Quiet Isle
Unlikely. but it's been posited before. Love em both.
Distorted Humor
The spoiler is due to that that is revealed at the end of the book, and some folks might be reading it.
Errant Bard
Don't call what you post dumb. Either it is dumb and you don't post it, or it's not and you actually stand by what you write, by damn.Anyway, the theory is an old one, indeed (spoilers, heh). Joe11093
I never though of this before. It's interesting though. I was looking forward to see where Arya is going to use Valar Morghulis... I'm almost 800 pages through book 3 so yeah ;p
Cory
I thought about that too, but it's too far fetched Doubtless, they both say boy and have the same speech pattern as they are both bravossi
Horza
Jaqen is Lorathi, and his speech pattern 'A man watches television. A girl uploads cat gifs' is not similar to Syrio's.
Not_All_Ravens_Are_Grim
I totally believe this, though with this theory in mind, we should wonder...why does Syrio/Jaqen have such an interest in helping Arya? He (assuming they are indeed the same person) trained her to fight, then put himself in a position to follow her North, and returned to Harrenhal to help her escape. Why? Woftis
I think we'd all like to believe this to be the case but it doesn't add up.It's mentioned that Jaqen was in the cells while Ned was still hand (and Syrio was still around). As someone mentioned, there's been previous threads where the evidence has been produced.
BlackBrother55
This is either going to sound funny or dumb, but the reason I thought he called Arya 'boy' was because he was a pedophile.

Sordelor
No they're not the same, In affc, it was mentioned Eddard ordered that the 3 prisoners had to be brought to the night watch, so Jaquen was allready there before Eddard was inprisoned, and Syrio was attacked by Meryn Trant a couple minutes after Eddard was captured, so the're not the same person. Unless the REAL Jaqen was in the prisons already and the one we know as Jaqen assumed his identity after Ned was imprisoned and Syrio vanished from our pages...
