What would you change about ASOIAF?

Generally, I obsess over these books, but they're not perfect (I doubt any novel is). So, if you had the chance, what would you change about the series? And then I mean, outside of things like the pacing of A Feast for Crows or the release date of The Winds of Winter. I'm really curious about this. (And serious things, not like Dolorous Edd or Hodor on the Throne)

Things I might have changed:

-The resurrection of Catelyn (though I think it's going somewhere nice now)

-If R+L=J is true, it could have been revealed earlier in the series because it would be anticlimactic now. Jon wouldn't have learned of it though, because it might have whisked him away from the Wall too soon.

What else?

-Age up Danaerys, Robb, Jon, and Sansa

-Less food porn and travelogue

-More Frey Pies

-No UnCat, or let Cat survived the bloody Red Wedding and make her vengeful afterwards instead of her dead then suddenly zombie Cat hanging Freys

Age up the younger characters;

No Maggy the contrived plot device prophecy;

Make Cersei a more morally ambiguous character;

Less fake-death devices;

A better editing for AFFC and especially ADWD. The pace of the last book was just outrageous;

Less plot contrivances in the Wall stroyline.

Contain the overflow of POV's present in the last two books. Make a single character our narrator into a single location (Arianne for Dorne, Asha for the Iron Islands, etc.)

"GRRM is way better at story telling than I'll ever be."

See above:

I would like things to be tightened up a bit though. Such as, the whole digression with with Brienne, which seemed a bit like filler to me. I found myself wanting to know more about the main actors in the plot. I understand his wanting to show the effects of the war up close and from different perspectives though, I just feel as though the story is put on hold for too long. And with regards to the story being put on hold, I grow tired of Daenaerys's plot stagnation as well. I dislke the setting for her part of the story, and for it to be drawn out as long as it is with very little forward movement only makes it worse. I have every confidence that the plot movement that has been missing in large part recently, will come back into the story and things will begin moving at a good pace again. I just hope that he hasn't created too many disparate plot threads to bring back together in a believable fashion.

waiting 6 years between books :P

The undead characters, actually the way magic is getting stronger in the story, I know this was GRRM intention since the start, magic growing stronger until it surpass the political part, but I like it more at the begining, when magic was a mysterious and hidden force, something that was there but in the back, by the later books it become a cheap plot device/deus ex machina. Withe Walkers, Dragons, R'hllor fine :thumbsup: Beric, Wargs OK B) , UnHot Pie (trust me is only a matter of time) bad :thumbsdown:
