I'm not a native English speaker so i got i question. Does King's Landing mean the place where king landed or the lands of the king? In translation it is translated as lands of the king.

It's the actual name of the city. it got the name due to events others have outlined. the first Aegon made it his seat. Obviously the Targs had landed at Dragonstone long long ago but werent the rulers of Westeros until they were legitimized by the septons at Oldtown and Kings Landing is the name of the city they built as the government seat.

Morgan Le Fay/Morgane/Morgana

I think Blood raven answered this by revealing that all the ravens had singers in them. I wouldnt put it past some of the ravens in Westeros also having singers in them. They certainly appear at opportune times.

I thought Joff was conceived while Cersei and Jaime were at Estermont? Can someone back this up?

You are correct that Cersei like's to think Joff was conceived at Greenstone, the seat of house Estermont. While Robert was boning one of his cousins whose husband died in the rebellion.

I think it's obvious Nudu knows that's the name of the city. He/she jsut asked what the name meant.

Ah! Got it! Page 486, book 1:

"Your Robert got me with child once," she said, her voice thick with contempt. "My brother found a woman to cleanse me. He never knew."

So I guess this would have been after Joff's birth and nobody knew she was pregnant. I saw the first season of the TV show before I read book 1--sometimes it's difficult to keep everything straight! LOL

I'm in the same boat. In the show's reality she actually had a kid that died who I assume was actually Roberts and came before Joffery. Not sure though.

ADWD Hardback US page 457.

"Bran did want to be married to a tree... but who else would wed a broken boy like him?..."

Is that a typo? D=

It makes no sense.... but my kindle version gives me the same quote.

Bran did NOT want to be married to a tree sounds more logical...

My nook version says "not"

Definitely, as you say, more sensible :)

Here's one I've wondered for a while: Is there any magical reason that the Great Houses seem to have similar appearances within families? The Targaryens are inbred, so that makes sense, but what of the other families?

What did Tyrion do in Kings Landing before Jon Arryn died and the crew headed to Winterfell? Was he some sort of Lord or did he teach Cersei's children or what?

Also, how has Arya escaped Varys' radar for so long?

I think that Tyrion was just there, not doing anything. He might've been teaching them but I doubt it somehow. We haven't been told much.

Who came up with the idea of a Hand? Did Aegon bring that institution with him, was it thought of later, or did some of the independent kingdoms have hands?

From a reading of The World of Ice and Fire:

After the Landing, a wooden motte and bailey was built on one of the hills overlooking the Blackwater. He named Daemon Velaryon Master of Ships, Tristan Massey Master of Laws, and a Celtigar as Master of Coin (Thank you Boiled Leather for remembering that for me!). Orys Barathon he called "My shield, my stalwart, my strong right hand" and Orys became the first Hand of the King.

Once and for all, and I guess this could be an audiobook-related question, is Mya of Mya Stone pronounced "MEE-ah" (like Mia) or "My-ah" (like Maya)?

I think of it as Maya, given that the y in Lysa is pronounced that way (the long i sound), and also Mycah has the y representing a long i sound. But it's also true that GRRM said the names can be said any way you want. He also pronounced Lysa like "Liza" in an interview though so I'm going with that. :)
