speculative guide to the Relative military strength for the houses in the different regions in westeros

Recommended Posts

The following info was probably in the hands of the citadels and the maesters and possibly lords such as stannis, tywin, ned, baelish, royce, manderly, tarly e.t.c the military minds of westeros..

the aim is to atleast try and come up with the military strength of each house at the onset of AGOT and any help would be most welcome in trying to at least find out how each house ranks in it's ability to influence the politics in the continent.

Note :- please try as much as possible to use and stick to whatever info is available in the books by the author and related works to try and come up with the numbers for each house

For the houses that names are given but no info is available you can speculate using the factors where the seat of power is located(geographical location),economic activity and history ......the various maps of the world of westeros in the books or out there can be of help to provide more insight

It has been confirmed that the Houses listed on the wiki are by no means a complete list and that there could be as many smaller houses as yet unlisted.

The North probably has well over a 100 Houses, maybe 200, if you go by the fact that just the Manderlys have 12 petty lords and a hundred landed knights sworn to them.

If each of the 13 Primary Noble Houses of the North have an average of 10 petty lords sworn to them, that gives you around 150 houses in total already. And that excludes the non noble houses like the Skagosi, Mountain clans etc.

So the point is, we don't really know how many Houses each region has, since only a fraction of the Houses have been revealed to us.

i think the numbers i have indicated are about right for the houses the author has introduced form AGOT to ADWD and related works house manderly has sworn houses to them like for example woolfield and its listed in among the northen houses

there is a Leona Woolfield, the wife of Ser Wylis Manderly.
