I kind of hope Vikings gets cancelled so she has time to do Thrones, is it a good show?The writing isn't always great, but I like the show and she makes one hot Viking chick, even when she is all dirty and stuff. Some thought Stephanie Blacker was cast as Val initially, but her character's name turned out to be "Violet". Some of the promos have shown Tormund climbing the wall, it's led me to wonder where that will lead. If Tormund is caught or dies on the south side of the wall, doesn't that kind of remove a major purpose for having Val in the story? They've already altered Jon's storyline a fair bit. Considering we don't really know where her character is going in the books, I'm not sure how important the producers consider her. I've seen other people speculate that they aren't going to kill Ygritte off and just keep her as a Val replacement. Maybe I'm becoming too cynical about the show's willingness to stick to the source material. I suppose I'll just have to see how the Tormund stuff pans out this season. Val Is easily one f my favourite characters , and I personally don't want Ygritt as a replacement , because she needs to die !!! Bride of Winter Posted April 3, 2013 Share Posted April 3, 2013 shhh don't even talk about them not casting val! i refuse to think about it after what happened some of my other favorite minor characters :crying:but yeah I agree it looks like val's going to have some sort of role in the future, they may treat her like the reeds and only cast her when absolutely necessary (so maybe for next season when we get more into the wall politics, since she's only occasionally mentioned through most of ASOS and from what I understand that probably wouldn't work logistically if you're hiring a full-time actress). though I will be missing the little bits with val they could have had in this season, like jon initially seeing her from afar, and potential interactions she could have had with Mance and other important wildlings.edit: we also need Val because her and Gilly being BFFs at the wall is something I must see. but thankfully this can wait until the ADWD portion of the show as well. She would make a great wildling-princess.As opposed to some adaption-pessimists i don't believe that they are going to leave out Val.
