Also loved the entire kraznys exchange which was almost straight from the books, although it did leave me with one question: They didnt have to kill a baby in the book right? I remember they had to raise a puppy and kill it to complete their training or something, but never heard of baby murder.

Great episode overall, and can't wait to see more!

The baby murder part is straight from the books, but it's funny... my friend who's read the book once made the same comment; she remembered the dog-murder part but not the baby-killing and asked me if they made up that baby stuff for the show.

Just goes to show you how repulsed most of us are by the killing of some (cute) anmials but not others... but that's better left for a General Chatter thread.

On an entirely separate note, did anyone think Gregor would have willingly abandoned Harenhal even though Tywin told him to hold it? Could he have received a message telling him to abandon the castle if the Northmen are about to take it? Gregor seems like a stubborn, bullheaded fellow, who would fight till the bitter end. What would cause him to run?

The plot?

In all seriousness I'd say that Tywin probably ordered him to clear out shop and The Mountain did that the only way he knew how. It's also possible that with Jaime free he felt he could kill prisoners without repercussions.

That was certainly implied in the scene. That was the reason that Cat got put in a cell, to appease everybody else.

Except it didn't. On a loosely related note, does anyone think that Bolton could already be in the pay of Tywin at this point? The letters Tywin was writing in the Tyrion/Tywin scene seemed to give us glimpses of his preparation for RW, and Bolton spoke of having "his best hunter" after Jamie. Could that possibly be leading to Bolton hunting for a different master? Tenuous link i know, might only be because i know where it all goes. Thoughts?

I was kind disappointed with Missandei, the young girl wise beyond her years. It may just be me, but i get the feeling that she is going to be( or come off as) less impressive in the HBO series. Missandei's age may not change anything for the story, yet I fear the dynamics of her and Daenerys relationship will have to be different then that of the books.

Of course her relationship with Dany is going to "be different". First, just look at Missandei. She is not the sweet little prepubescent child from the books, wise beyond her years, but rather an exotic beauty shaped like Jessica Rabbit and dressed like a porno Pocohantas. She oozes sex, and it's clear that she's going to be doing lesbo scenes with the Khaleesi in no time flat. This will not only be fun, but necessary in order to say semi-faithful to the books. All of Dany's handmaidens are now dead in the show (except Jhiqui, who was in one episode and vanished into thin air), so she needs a new handmaiden to hand her things in the daytime and to use her hands on her when she gets lonely at night.

Looking beyond the bewildering hotness of Nathalie Emmanuel for a moment, I admit that I will miss the Missandei of the books; I thought the relationship between her and Dany was very sweet and very sad, and we will get to see very little of that now.

But I won't complain too much when the lesbian scenes air.
