Lord Flashheart
Does anyone else see D&D combining her character with Val's? Since I don't think they are introducing Val or Dalla this season I cant help but think they will. Her death is powerful and vital to Jon's development. I just have this bad feeling that after Jon defends the wall and allows the Wildlings through it will be Ygritte he sends to go find Tormmund. Sigh.. Ororo727 Jon Snow Fangirl
No. I don't see it happening.
Runaway Penguin
Well, Tormund is in the trailer climbing the Wall, so probably he won't have to search for him. I think he might take the place of Val in being sent out to gather scattered Wildlings and bring them through.
Thendel
Nope, I don't see it happening: Val was barely mentioned in Storm, and certainly not in a way that necessated she be introduced before season 5.
rodrik Cassel
as I am a huge fan of Ygritte i would support that move but i dont see that coming no director in the world would miss the chance of this deathscene

Chuck88
As much as it would be awesome if she didn't have to die, her death is kinda vital to Jon's development over the whole story. It'll be so sad when she does die though :(On a sort of related note, I'm very glad she isn't Tormund's daughter, as one poster suggested before the first episode aired. That would have been rather daft.
WinterKing
If she does not die Jon's role will be seriously compromised.
Er Rn
I think she has to go, otherwise it'll really change Jon's development.
Buckwheat
Yep, her death is important for his character development, I cannot see her not dying.Val can still be introduced later.
Drogo_1
I agree Ygritte has to die but I think people are assuming they will have a Val. They may not need a Val at all or will introduce a new character to play the wilding princess role.

Ferrum Aeternum
Nope, her death is a dramatic moment that D&D can't possibly think of passing up. It'll make for awesome TV. Besides, Val has already been cast, so it's likely the showrunners have thought this through. The only real question for the adaptation is whether she'll die by Jon's hand. Dragon Doll
It would rob them of the chance of having another blonde bombshell in the cast. And it would create a host of problems for Jon on the wall. He couldn't have the girl he had been sleeping with in the castle, especially with his big promotion coming up...

Ferrum Aeternum
God I hope not :( Certainly not on purpose anyway, that would destroy Jon's character.I hope not too, but this is TV, so you can never tell how much they'll want to ramp up the drama. In the book, Jon was mostly sure his arrow wasn't the one that took her.
NorthSouthEastWesteros
She has to die if she's anything like book Ygritte.'You know nothing Jon SNO-OOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!'Boy you know how to get me going, Martin. :mellow:But no, she can't be Val. It wouldn't even make any sense.
Throng of Mice and Mire
Ygritte will have to die. I can't see that being changed. The suggestion that Toramund will be captured by the watch and will be the one Jon sends out to gather the wildlings to bring them though the wall is a possibility though.
