Which no one could have foreseen really, because it wasn't a smart thing for Tywin to do, and from what I gather it was unlawful as well.

Neither was taking Tyrion against your husband and Littlefingers advice a very smart thing to do. And Tywin had his daughter in the position of queen and a king who was heavily in debt to him, he could do pretty much whatever he wanted and get away with it.

ASOIAF fanatic ( "I hate the series" ) book fans are like Harry Potter book fans on viagra, they're even bigger dicks.

I am incredibly impressed with this series and I would classify myself as a massive book nerd of the series as well. I thought this episode was incredible! I loved nearly everything about it. To be honest I pity the people that are still not happy, because they are not enjoying it as much as the majority of the other book fans. I think the quality of episodes is only going to improve from the reviews I have heard. I heard the word "goosebumps" being used by a reviewer for episode four, it might have been Ran but I am not sure.

I don't understand what's so wrong with being a book purist. It would be quite a boring forum if everyone was all "every episode is fantastic!"

I know that with a limited budget, it's very hard to adapt this series. However, people also complain about the time format. Each book is roughly 1000 pages each and we have 60 mins x ten episode each year. Which is why I personally turn into a little pansy when they omit so much important material, only to use that time to completely make up material. Like my biggest pet peeve was that ridiculous seven minute long scene in season one at Littlefinger's brothel. They could have used that time to show something more important. Also, why change things around... don't fix it if it ain't broken! It's almost like D&D thinking that they can do better than GRRM by changing stuff like the whole Jeyne Westerling storyline, having LF saying stupid shit all the time, having Jaime kill his cousin, etc..

I get what you're saying and I definitely try not to be a jerk about it. When I come on here I usually just list what I personally like and dislike of each episode. And even if someone is ranting and raving, I just think it's funny. :) It's always interesting reading other people's points of views, especially the crazy ones!

But you're right! A lot of people don't focus on enjoying the show, instead they are too busy pointing out everything wrong. Sometiems when watching I point out in my own head "oh, they skipped this and that" but I don't throw my tv at my wall about it. Just me being overly observant. GoT's worst episode is still better than any other tv show out there.

Signed, a non crazy book purist.

1a. Jojen is not a warg.

1b. Ravens can be intercepted quite easily.

1c. The crannogmen seem to want to stay out of the war.

2. He wants to escape her because he doesn't trust her, doesn't like her, and, above all, Jaime Lannister is not content to be any man or woman's captive. He doesn't want to be returned to KL. He wants to get there on his own, without her around having "brought" him or protected him.

Jojen sees though his Green Dreams, the raven guides him, just as it guides Bran.

If Robb knew Bran was alive, if anyone knew, niether bran nor Rickon would be safe. Jojen knows this.

This episode did contain a few plot holes if you think about it.

1. I interpreteted that the reeds, through Jojens Warging, found out that Bran was alive. How come they didnt send a Raven to robb to inform him? if you are going to walk like hundreds of miles to find him, you might consider making that small effort aswell.

2. What Reason did Jamie have to fight Brienne really? i dont remember if he had a better motivation in the books, but since she is literary just serving as his guard on his way to kings landing, what interest could he possibly have in killing her? she is taking him back to the capitol to reuinite him with his family, why would he want to escape her if you think about it?

1. Well, Jojen has the benefit of foresight. Keeping Bran's whereabouts a secret is paramount. Alerting Robb would have tons of Northmen searching for him to bring him safely to...Riverrun perhaps. That directly conflicts with what Jojen needs Bran to do. Plus since he has green dreams, which we don't really know yet in the show, he knew where he would find Bran and when.

2. Jaime probably thinks he can do without her. Remember he's complaining about how she wants to walk the whole way ducking under hedges and is desperate to get to KL quickly. Plus he doesn't like being someone's prisoner and up until now doesn't particularly relish Brienne's company - in fact so far he find her to be quite annoying and draining.

mafalda- exactly!

i love them both because each it a work of art in its own right. if there's a part the book missed, im sad, but its still there in the book, i get over it.

I only get annoyed when they make alterations to a character's personality, but its rare, so im happy!

You have to remember, its a show adapted from a book that was written to un-adaptable, so they've done a smashing job! Especially with Ep.2!

I haven't reread aSoS in a while, but I can't recall what Varys is even doing during all of this. I love Conleth Hill, though, so I'm not opposed to just injecting him into the story for the sake of it.

I dont think we meet him in the book until Tyrion is brought back on the small council.

The man at the end is called Locke, but he has replaced Vargo Hoat! I am right on that am I?

And one more question....... Why not just keep the same character?

the rumour is that it was too hard to find an actor who could pull of the lisp without spoiling the characters sinister and intimidating nature... its one of those characters that is far easier to write than to play. the lisp easily becomes comical and spoils the tension and tone of despair in his scenes.

probably has something to do with the cutting of the brave companions altogheter aswell. You might aswell make up a completley new, but similiar character instead of turning Vargo Hoat into a servant of House Bolton.

There is also the fact that they want to give House Bolton more import over what essentially turns out to be a group that ends up not having much of an impact in the long run.

I thought this episode much better than the first. My non-book reading companion was a bit fuzzy on Jojen (sp?) and some other - somewhat important - characters like Karstark, but not so much so as not to get the drift. One thing - though the Band was clearly not the monsters the young 'uns encountered before, I think that their Robin Hood-ish nature could/should have been made more clear.

I am surprised - just browsing around a few threads, they are too long to read all the posts - to see a good few not liking the Margaery (sp?) performance. Admittedly it is a recap of the actresses portrayal of Ann Boleyn (sp?), but I think it works.

Jojen is well-cast, I think. Looks the part.

Lannister pride aside, if Brienne fulfills her promise to Cat and sees Jaime safely home, then the Lannisters could be seen as in the debt of the Starks, for returning him. Can't imagine Tywin, nor Jaime, would be pleased about having to pay that debt. As Lannisters always do. :)

Yes that's a good. Still if Brienne had of brought Jamie in , in chains, the prisoner of a woman!

Well Twyin didn't even show Jamie much affection as an escapee who made his own way back as a free man.

Tried to create a topic about this in the forums, but knowing my luck it won't be allowed by the moderators.

Book spoilers:

So does anyone else reckon that Joffrey's crossbow might be the weapon that Tyrion eventually uses to kill Tywin? I can imagine Tywin confiscating it off Joffrey at some point, perhaps even season 4. Would be a neat addition, I think.

It should be allowed as long as the thread title doesn't contain any spoilers. Just call the thread "Joff's crossbow" or something
