[BOOK SPOILERS] The Lannister guards following Sansa and Loras

Recommended Posts

Well, there were guards also in episode 1 at the docks. Since Sansa is a hostage, it`s quite normal she has guards to look after her. Not to run away or something like that.

I just assumed the guards were watching the prisoner. Strange there weren't any when she was with the Queen of Thorns and Marg though, if she'd been able to sneak a dagger in there and if she was a lot more hostile that could've been ugly. I would have expected the guards to watch her more so when at the table then when she was walking with Loras, a member of the kingsguard. But I guess if the guards had been watching her at the table she wouldn't have talked at all so... yeah.

Loras hasn't joined the Kingsguard yet.

I think the ladies of Highgarden would have been quite insulted, at the very least, if Lannister guards presumed to "watch over" their luncheon. Particularly when they (Highgarden) have their own house guards.

Yeah, QoT would not have allowed them any where near that table or conversation. The guards can follow her where ever, but I assumed we were seeing into the manor that the Tyrells were staying at so the Lannister guards would have been stopped at the front door.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see Butterbumps in that scene, was looking forward to that.

If you pay attention during the scene when Sansa is talking to Olenna, at one or two points when they're doing a close up shot of Sansa, you can see a guard standing at the entrance of the garden. He's not there when she first goes into the garden, so it's safe to assume it's one of her escorts taking up a position there. Just look for the flash of red cloak.

When Loras arrives, they're revealed to be standing guard outside her door.

Would've been nice if those two became characters with Sansa interacting with them, but than more time that could've been spent on other characters or events would be wasted

At any rate, the Lannister guards can report back to Cersi/Joff that Sansa when to talk with them. "About what I wonder?" It doesn't play well for Sansa and she needs to have a good excuse when asked.

I thought in the books that's when the QoT asked her to marry a Tyrell and that was good cover for Sansa and the impetus (yes IMP) for Tywin making her marrying Tyrion.
