10/10 purely for the moment when Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jorah Mormont drew swords together. Pure, uncensored pornography.

wtf dude, lot of nude scenes and you pick Barristan and Jorah? that's brave.

Everything was excelent, dragons incredibles, Varys and QoT amazing, the last scene with de unsullied army and the dragons flying was so exciting. And the NG fight was a moment that I hoped would never come 'cause I felt really sad with the death of Lor Mormont in the book and seeing it made me a little more sad. Jaime and Briene relationship is growing, everything was just incredible.

The only thing I still don't get is all the Podrick and the whores thing, what's up with that?

7, not as good as last week, although a better bunch of scenes at the end.

quite a bit of fluff in the middle, and still, its just a collection of scenes, not really a complete episode.

I agree. Dany's scene was amazing, but I didn't finish saying O-M-G and it was already over. The same as Craster's scene, I just expected much more blood.

Great episode though

I completely agree (about Emilia Clarke) She is on screen as I imagined her from the books. I do not like the way Royce Dotrice makes her sound on the audible, but not much could've been done about that.

I also listened to the audiobook of A Dance With Dragons and the reader (Roy Dotrice) makes Daenerys sound like a leprechan! :ack: It made me cringe, I almost couldn't listen to it! Gods be good, you'd expect more from such a highly produced franchise! Oh well.

But anyway, ep. 304 was great, second only to Blackwater IMHO.

  • The scene when Theon sees the wooden "X", the look on his face, the look on Ramsay's face...chilling.
  • Jaime's captivity is coming along nicely, they're doing a great job of portraying his character arc, as well as Brienne.
  • The Night's Watch mutiny was a bit rushed, but still a great scene...I just wish it had gone on a little longer, I guess that's a sign that it was good.
  • Tywin being Tywin...like a boss. Charles Dance plays the role perfectly.
  • Sandor and the Brotherhood Without Banners: Sandor spitting vitriolic hate, Arya calling out Sandor for Micah's murder, Beric Dondarian challenging him....all well done!
  • The ending was f'ing epic! Definite nerdgasm! In addition to Emilia Clarke, I love Ian Glenn's acting, he's such a badass, he always delivers in any scene. The final shot of the ranks of unsullied marching out...

Emilia Clarke did an amazing job on her part! Ive been waiting for this scene since I read SOS. A lot of other great scenes as well!!

I watch with non readers and seeing them freak out

at LC being killed and Dracarys

just added to the entertainment for me!

One of the best episode in a long time. The scene with Daenerys was awesome. It was better than anything she did in the whole of season 2, proving once again that when you stay faithful to the book, you get the best results. Also, no softcore porn in this episode, which is always a plus.

You're thinking way too hard about this. A scale from 1-10 is just that. Pretty sure when someone throws something up to rate on a scale of 1-10 they aren't looking to trick anyone.

Snookson, you really don't want to debate psychology with a statistician. And SerArthurHeath, that's not a dig at you; I myself studied stats. It's just that often times you can't reconcile emotion with statistics. And that's what this thread is about: emotion. FYI for anyone who cares, the weighted average rating of this episode is 9.25 (rounded to two decimal places). Also, I think my post just made the nerd-o-meter explode. ;)

I gave a 9 but to me this was one of, if not the best episode to date. I almost gave it a 10 but I'm reserving that for a future episode. Vargo Hoat is as nasty if not nastier in the tv version as he is in the book. Throwing Varys's torturer into the episode was deviously clever. Daenerys Stormborn/Targaryen and her Valyrian speech was beautiful to listen to. Topping it off was the Dragon and the Unsullied. Very impressed with HBO's special effects here. Made the "Spartacus" Roman army look like Davy and Goliath clay figurines. Well done. Better than Blackwater to me because the books description of that battle couldn't be duplicated. Left me a little disappointed actually because my expectations were just too high. This episode just blew me away because I wasn't expecting much to be honest and came away with my jaw gaping with this one.

Holy Shit!

I could write a 1000 word review of this episode, but 'Holy Shit!' pretty well sums it up. The death of Jeor Mormont, the death of Craster, the sacking of Astapor, the final unmasking of 'Boy' as Ramsey Snow, Varys's incredible revenge, Margaery Tyrell playing Joffrey like a fucking harp, the sacking of Astapor (mentioned this twice 'cos it was just that awesome!) Charles Dance being a boss, Beric-fucking-Dondarrion!

Ten out of ten. Easiest. Rating. Ever.

Holy Shit!

This made me laugh. Playing him like a fucking harp...lol. I gave the episode a 9. I'm right there with you. I actually hold it at a 9.5 out of 10, but after having two kids that baby's screaming in the beginning made me want to kill something, and more importantly I was upset Mormont didn't get his final words. Other than that, I was happy and think it was nearly flawless television.

Awesome episode! And entirely boobless, oddly enough. It's like they had to fast forward some plot to make up for all of last week's useless nudy scenes. Thank you whoever at HBO got on that.

Agree completely.

I think this is the best episode of this season so far and one of the best in the series.

Absolutely perfect.

I was just waiting for Dany to start speaking valyrian and I orgasmed from then on. And finally not one single worthless scene in this episode either.

10!!!

I gave it a 9. As long as they keep showing scenes with Bran it will never be a 10. The story is a complete waste in the books (so far) and it translates even worse to the screen.

Great episode regardless. Possibly one of the best yet. But I'm still waiting for the Holy Grail of episodes of it even exists, the episode that leaves you absolutely speechless at the end and you know you've witnessed something you'll probably never see again. Maybe it is a standard I have set too high for this show. But I don't think so. I still believe the best is yet to come.

I gave it a 9. Fantastic episode, The first really good one this series. Well acted (as ever) but well written and directed too. Hardly any filler (apart from the Bran scene - but that's OK cos I like Bran) and everything made sense.

Varys and Olenna were especially good, I thought.

If the rest of the series can stay at this level, I will be very happy.

I give a 9, because for me Blackwater remains the only episode which deserves 10.

That said, this episode was just fantastic. All the scenes were at least good, Bran's and Arya's a little below the rest.

And Dany's just perfect, and there are not so many in the series. This scene is in the top 5 of the series, and this episode in the top 5 of the series as well.

I hope I'll give a 10 to a certain episode 9, where "the drums were pounding, pounding, pounding".

Blackwater lacked some CGI shots to show how big the battle was. It looked like Stannis was trying to take King's Landing with 50 men and 5 boats.
