[Book spoilers] Dracarys is perfect but...

Recommended Posts

I think it worked out pretty much as I'd expected - he completely disregards Dany, so in his opinion anything that she has under control obviously he would be able to control

On top of that he holds the symbolic whip of the Unsullied, he receives the chain for the dragons so he should be the rightful master - that's how his thought process is working. Not that this is a potentially intelligent, loyal creature to Dany. He sees it as property, she sees it as a child.

:agree: spot on

To start off I'd like to state that just like pretty much everyone else, I loved the scene.

I had chills running down my spine when she started speaking High Valyrian and I went crazy when the time for Dracarys came. I loved the way Emilia acted and how her Valyrian was close to perfection.

I want to state though, that I really didn't like the fact that Kraznys just stood there after receiving the dragon.

Obviously, it's cool right? You get one of the first dragons hatched in ages? But he just stands there, watching the dragon, for such a long time... Dany has time for her whole "zen moment" and ordering the Unsullied to march and such while he just stands there.

Now don't get me wrong. I know there are arguments like; "He just got a dragon, he's shocked." and "He made a businessdeal so it's normal to wait for a while." or something.

The other part of me though, feels like he KNEW that the dragon would be very wild and possibly angry for having to leave it's mother. I think the actual Kraznys would first of all lock the dragon in a cage (suppose he lost his grip and the dragon flew away?) and he would also leave the scene of trade pretty quickly. It's made clear how he has no respect whatsoever for Dany so once the deal is done he wants nothing else from her. I just don't think he would stand there, still and silent, waiting for something to happen.

It's just something that bugged me while watching it and I was wondering if there was anyone else with the same feeling.

Isn't anybody going to mention that's pretty much the way it was in the book?!

In the book Kraznys came off as kind of oafish. Dave and Dan had Dan Hildebrand play him as a little more wily while still being a total jerk.

I think that GRRM and D and D played it that way for dramatic license.

You think the slavers would of thought it through and had a cage of their own, but greedy people do stupid things , so it was not unusual.

Besides no one in Astapor had seen a dragon for , what?, maybe 100's if not a 1000 years.

I wouldn't know how a dragon would behave!

In fact just what was Kraznys going to do with Drogon?

Even Dany does not know how to train them to be war dragons, yet.

I would have sold Drogon , jez, must be someone in Essos with enough gold to buy him.

Yeah, it was pretty terrible. Though it her response more than made up for it -- Valyrian sounds awesome.

That makes no sense, I don't know what you guys are talking about?

The whole impact of that line was to show the slavers had stupidly , and totally, missed that Dany had a strategy.

She understood everything they said, and she was going to rub it in.

It was perfect.

I agree. Kraznys is accustomed to being in control. And this is the equivalent of him receiving the keys to Fort Knox.

It would have worked better if it was clear that the dragon was clearing the wall of guards.

Yes when I first watched that scene I thought "what about the guards" on the wall?"

Now they were armed with only spears , not bows.

So I thought when all hell broke loose it was Run Away, Run Away time.

After a couple of viewings it seems that was what was implied , it was Drogon clearing the wall of guards...

(By the by how did he know to do that? Dany warging him?)

In the book all three dragons take part in the mayhem , but I guess was not in the VFX budget.

Tho we did get all three in the final sequence.

We have only seen Drogon twice up close, Viserion and Rhaegal are only seen in the distance.

Again! Why the heck have they not gotten their names by now?

I don't think him standing there was weird. He just got a dragon, and it kind of seemed like he had a problem moving it. Drogon was tugging away from him and they are getting pretty big, it would be tough to just walk away with him. Can't put him in a cage if he is 20 feet in the air and you do not want to piss off a dragon. He also thought Dany was some stupid slut anyway, he never would have thought about it. In the book there are several Astapori traders, Kraznyz one of them. As there stare at Drogon only one of the traders notices that Dany is speaking Valyrian during her Unsullied speech. It is too late for them to do anything.

This whole scene was done badly for me. It wasn't dramatic enough, the screenplay was just bad and unimaginative. It felt under budget but I guessed the dragons and CGI unsullied army ala LOTR orcs took a lot of money. It didn't give me the high I got when reading the books. Quite rushed, not enough build up. Disappointing. But my non-reader husband was ok with it, he kept saying comon, sack THIS city first. So he was satisfied when it happened. It didn't give him a high thou. I just want everybody to experience the high I got when reading this scene.

I don't know what needs to happen for my boyfriend to be impressed by this show. He's already forgotten this scene and only remembers the mutiny at Craster's Keep.

Missendai and Dany love scene?

They might cut it tho

has that actually been filmed? But I doubt he'd remember that either, he doesn't remember the Pod scene, the LF whore play scene, doesn't really know/care who Ros is, none of it, lol...

It's a funny thing for you to say, since Dan and Dave have said recently it was that very scene that pushed them over the edge to try to get ASoIaF made!

My bad, I thought it was her and Irri.

Oh, it could have been...

I guess I am not sure on that

If IIRC its in SOS and maybe DWD as well. The scene is between Dany and Irri. Missandei is 11 in the books. However, Missandei is taking the place of IIri nd Jaquiri in the show it seems.

Oh yeah, she is 11. I don't see how that would fit at all in the show - a random Dany and Missandei lesbian encounter. Maybe they should do a Game of Thrones"After Hours" program.

Haha, Im sure that there`s a porno being made, if not one out already. I can already envision the spoof titles  !! ``Littlefinger`s Big Finger``, ``Dance with a Dragon``, ``A Game of Bones`` :lmao: I could go on but Im off topic so I`ll stop.

I thought Dracarys scene was brilliant, and my non reader buds were blown away.
