Offical Court of Law v 13 Robert Baratheon

Recommended Posts

The Defendant, King Robert Baratheon, First of His Name has been found guilty of the following offences:-

Attempted Murder; two counts of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm; two counts of Misconduct in Public Office. The Court will consider each of these in turn.

Count 2. The Defendant attempted to murder Princess (Khaleesi, and subsequently Queen) Daenerys Targaryen by poisoning. It is an aggravating factor that the Defendant was a 14 year old pregnant girl. But, the fact that the Defendant believed he was acting in the best interests of the Kingdom, and the fact that the said Princess is currently serving a sentence of indefinite detention in the Hightower for mass murder and torture, should be regarded as mitigating factors.

Count 3.1. The Defendant and his wife loathed each other. This is no justification, however, for the Defendant's behaviour.

Count 3.2. The Court has established that the boy, Joffrey Hill, was not the son of the Defendant. His natural father, Ser Jaime Lannister, has described him as "a squirt of seed", and indeed the boy was universally loathed. The Court accepts that his conduct was a mitigating factor in sentencing the Defendant.

Count 4.1 The Court views the Defendant's approval of the deaths of Princess Elia and her two children with grave disapproval.

Count 4.2 The Court considers that the Defendant's toleration of corruption within the City Watch was inexcusable,.

The Court's rules provide for the imposition of whichever punishment is favoured by a majority of judges. In this case, no punishment commands a majority. Three supported death by the sword; one death by hanging; three, a lifetime of service at the Wall; four, Deposition. Two supported a terms of imprisonment (one suggested a 15-20 year term); seven suggested fines, one community service, and one declined to impose any punishment at all. It is therefore, the Court's duty to establsh a consensus.

Since, death, the Wall, a lengthy prison term would of necessity result in Deposition, by implication, a majority of judges are in favour of this course of action. The Court's sentence is therefore that the Defendant be deposed, and reinstated as Lord Paramount of the Stormlands. By virtue of being deposed, the Defendant loses all rights to the castle and island of Dragonstone, which are therefore restored to Princess Daenerys Targaryen, to be held on trust for her during her period of detention.

The Court notes the opinion of the learned Judge Dagon Greyjoy that the High Septon is "a moralistic little shit, " and agrees that he wasted the Court's time by bringing a charge of fornication, which properly belongs in a Family Court. We therefore award costs of 100,000 golden dragons against the High Septon.

Who will reign instead if him?

1. Treason. Two Counts

Both dismissed under the grounds of lawful rebellion due to the Regents insanity and threat to the realm. Consequently any deaths that occur during battle are lawful.

2. Attempted Murder. One Count.

Dismissed. Assassination in the defence of the realm is legitimate military action.

3. Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. Two counts.

.1 Not guilty under the grounds that main witness is unreliable.

.2 Not guilty under the grounds that main witness is unreliable.

4.Misconduct in public office. Three counts.

.1 Dismissed. Alleged victims were collateral damage in a lawful war.

.2 Dismissed. Defendant was dead.

.3 Not guilty. The King took reasonable measures to fill this managerial post with a suitably qualified candidate.

5. Fornication.

Dismissed. This act is not illegal in law between consenting adults.

All charges dismissed on the grounds that Robert Baratheon is a badass mofo.

I was actually talking about Stannis's fine for burning Weirwoods.

That's not unreasonable, given the religious significance of weirwood trees in the North. It would be like burning down Canterbury Cathedral.

Can you plant a few seeds and have Canterbury Cathedral sprout a few times? It's more like burning down a couple of minor churches.

(Not to mention, he's the king (at least where he burned the trees). Trees are public, therefore his, property.)

The Defendant, King Robert Baratheon, First of His Name, is charged with the following offences:-

1. Treason. Two Counts.

1.1 The Defendant is charged with having waged war against his lawful sovereign, Aerys II Targaryen, in violation of his oath of fealty.

1.2 The Defendant is charged with having slain the heir to the Iron Throne, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen of Dragonstone, in violation of his oath of fealty.

2. Attempted Murder. One Count.

The Defendant is charged with having attempted to procure the assassination of Princess Daenerys Targaryen and her unborn child, through the agency of a seller of poisoned wine.

3. Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. Two counts

3.1 The Defendant is charged with having repeatedly assaulted his Queen, Cersei of House Lannister.

3.2 The Defendant is charged with having assaulted his son, Prince Joffrey, by beating him unconscious.

4. Misconduct in Public Office. Three Counts.

4.1 The Defendant is charged with having failed to investigate or punish the murder of Princess Elia of Dorne, and her children, Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaenys.

4.2 The Defendant is charged with having permitted the sale of public offices by the late Janos Slynt, formerly commander of the Gold Cloaks, styling himself Lord of Harrenhall.

4.3 The Defendant is charged with neglecting matters of State to the extent that the Iron Throne is in debt by six million dragons.

1.1. Aerys was had murdered Rickon and Brandon Stark. Robert had every reason to believe Aerys demand for him to come to KL was in order for Aerys to kill him. NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF SELF-DEFENSE

1.2. It was a war. Rhaegar did not show up to inform Robert that Lyanna had run away with him and this was all big misunderstanding. He came to kill Robert. This charge is absurd as it makes every soldier guilty of murder. CHARGE DISMISSED

2. He did do it. But ultimately, he was correct. Dany was trying to convince Drogo to invade the moment Viserys died. She is currently raising an army. She is not an innocent girl, but an active plotter against the Throne. Assassination is distasteful, but acceptable in war (or in this case, to prevent one). NOT GUILTY

3.1. We are able to see Cersei's thoughts and there is no reason for her to lie. Nor does it seem to be some delusional fake memory. GUILTY: PUNISHMENT BY GELDING OR THE WALL (This juror recognized gelding is not on the list, but it is the traditional for rapists in Westeros.)

3.2. Joffery is a monster, but still a child. GUILTY: PUNISHMENT BY COMMUNITY SERVICE

4.1. War is brutal. Many innocents are killed, and it is never investigated. However, they were specifically targeted and put on display by their murderer. GUILTY: PUNISHMENT BY MONETARY FINE TO ELIA'S FAMILY AND A FULL INVESTIGATION AND PUNISHMENT OF THE MURDERERS

4.2. Did he know? Slynt had other superiors besides Robert. So, this juror cannot in good conscience find Robert guilty of a crime he might not even have known of. NOT GUILTY

4.3. Robert was a shitty king. But being a shitty king is not a crime. NOT GUILTY

5. Robert is extremely guilty. However, cheating on your wife is not a crime. CHARGES DISMISSED AS THE CHARGES ARE NOT ACTUALLY A CRIME

1. Treason.

1.1 The Defendant is not guilty for waging war against his sovereign. The liege lord was the first to break their agreement by making unreasonable demands and threatening the defendants life.

1.2 The Defendant is not guilty for having slain the heir to the Iron Throne, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen of Dragonstone. The war was legal and the duel was done according to the Rules of War and so was a lawful killing.

2. Attempted Murder.

The Defendant is guilty for having attempted to procure the assassination of Princess Daenerys Targaryen and her unborn child. The defendant asks for leniency as there never made official peace between Houses Baratheon and Targaryen but recognizes the moral wrongness in the methods used. Defense suggests monetary fine.

3. Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.

The Defendant is not guilty for any and all accusations concerning his marriage and ways of rising his offspring. Frankly, the defense wants to remove these accusation all together from this trial as they clearly biased towards the prosecution. Matters regarding marriage and family can not be on trial in the Court of Men.

4. Misconduct in Public Office.

Not guilty. The defendant served the Realm for best of his ability and knowledge. The fault, if there are any, lies in the administration and counseling. The defense claims that the defendant always made the best possible choice given the information.

5. Fornication (at the insistence of the High Septon).

The Defendant is guilty for fornication. The defense suggests monetary fine.

As nobody was hurt the fines are to be paid to the Crown. As the defendant is also the monarch of the Realm no actions are necessary. And thus no fines are to be paid.

Raping your wife and beating (who think is) your son are most definitely crimes that are charged in courts.
