Bakker XIV: Star Trek into Darkness that Comes Before

Kalbear - It's like Triskele says. The only power capable of threatening the Empire as a whole is Zeum. They could conquer the empire, and hell maybe Fanimry would reunite the populace :P. it's just a crackpot in any case.

Castel - Akka has lots of his new Dreams while on the road, including while in Cil Aujas and in the Mop.

Actually, Zeum follow the Tusk and consider it holy. I think they actually have a better handle on what the gods actually are than the Inrithi or pre-Sejenus cults.

So I don't think they'll allow Fanimry to become the faith of the Empire, which would only lengthen the time of assimilating the population.

Of course if the No-God arises religious debate will likely take a back seat.

Yeah, as I thought, that makes it less likely that someone was fucking with him no?

We're told many times that threatening the Empire is a totally different thing from conquering it. Zeum can threaten the empire, Fanayal can threaten the Empire. They can attack the chains that link such a vast and disparate group of people. But can they seize? Can they take the Empire itself and not the small nations that make it up? Can they hijack the machine?

I'd argue that they don't have a chance at all. We have no idea how strong Zeum is but it seems an impossible task. Sure, they're perhaps strong enough to attack it and possibly break it up now. But actually organizing it seems beyond them. If the Empire was having problems with Kellhus I don't see how Zeum can do anything but create a bunch of squabbling states again before retreating behind a new fortress.

And their society might play it's own part here: would they want to conquer?

@Darth: Try the Wikia, as IIRC it's very comprehensive.

Zeum doesn't want to conquer. But propping up Fayanal has ruler over the remnants of the Kellian Empire ensures their own safety.

Why I think Kellhus encouraged this strategy is that if the Ordeal falls, the remnants of the Empire is fodder to delay the progression of the Consult which would give Zeum and the nations beyond time to prepare.

I know the Zeümi aren't Fanim. But Fanayal is, and if Zeum supports his conquest, there could be conversions. But again, I'm not positing this as likely or even particularly plausible. Just an enjoyable crackpot.

On a totally different subject, something that bothers me... we know there is at least one major School that has never appeared in the books (the Circle of Nibel, listed in the TTT appendix) and we don't see any Minor Schools at all, though they presumably exist since comparisons are made several times. What bothers me is that we never see them or hear talk about them. Why aren't they in Kellhus's Ordeal or secreted about the Empire for communication and defense?

I always assumed the Vokalati replaced the Circle of Nibel because that name is terrible. And that Kellhus just had the minor schools incorporated into the larger ones for efficiency's sake. Like, it's painfully obviously Bakker got the name Circle of Nibel from Der Ring des Nibelungen, and it's kinda ultra-lame.

My brain decided to spontaneously do a version of The Rains of Castamere for Bakker this morning. It's terribly immature to the point that I'm ashamed, but I thought I'd post it and hope to inspire another Happy Ent parody.

The Rains of Golgotterath

And who are you the proud lord said

That I must bow so low.

Only a Fucker of a different cum

That's all the truth I know.

A cum of black or a cum of white

A Fucker likes to fuck.

And i fuck long and hard my lord

As long and hard as you.

And so he spoke and so he spoke

That lord of golgotterath.

But now the rains weep o'er his horns

With many sranc to hear.

Yes now the rains weep o'er his horns

With a horde of sranc to hear

Heh, not bad Karaddin. Makes me want to do another Earwa-based rap cover.

Also, wasn't there an actual metal group that did some songs based on Earwa?

ejaculate rain. a new level of ewwwwwww.

I actually recall a porn star saying it might be good for one's hair.

Okay, here is my theory on the WLW killing the Aspect Emperor. I believe that indeed the WLW will kill the AE but the AE will be Fanyal, the newly crowned AE.

As of this time it seems highly unlikely that Kellhus will return to the capital or that the WLW will go into the wastes.

So...you can read Bakker's books but alternative organic hair products creepy you out? For shame

Well there is a difference between written and visual, between imagined and real. Fiction allows us detachment from the acts that might otherwise disgust/horrify us.

That said, I personally fail to see how contemplating someone willingly accepting cum soaking their hair is worse than imagining the non-consensual acts the Inchies engage in though I'll admit some involuntary disgust with regards to the former.

eta:

Maybe the black semen would double as hair dye as well as conditioner?

I'm surprised there were no passages talking about the taste - surely Cnauir gave head to one of the skin spies?

Nice! (And welcome to the board.)

This can not work, because Fan is a follower of the Solitary God, which means he cannot be an Aspect Emperor. (The “aspect” part is closely tied to Inri Sejenus’s interpretation of the Hundred: that they are all aspects of the God. This presumably allowed emperors to festoon their reign with divinity by claiming to be an incarnation of the emperor aspect of God, hence Aspect Emperor. Fan cannot do that.)

ETA: I re-read the prophecy (AE VIII), and it does indeed say “the broken blade to plunge into the Aspect-Emperor’s heart.” Had it said “Emperor” or something similar, I’d have been sold on your theory: the bickering between Nanny Pat and Fan deflects the original instruction given to WLW so that he ends up killing Fan, not Kelly.

Generally I'd think that this was an unlikely cop-out but something about the WLW's fatalism makes me think that it's possible.

Still, I'd rather Kellhus just die, mostly because Kelmomas is unlikely to become AE and I don't like those sorts of fake-outs.

I looked for this but I have not found it so far. Does anyone believe that little Kelmomas is a narindar for Ajokli? And if so is there a chance that Ajokli plans on screwing up Yatwer's plans?

This seems to be the dominant theory. Personally used to think that he was just insane but his discussions with Inrilatas were interesting.

The only man manly enough to get head from Cnaiur urs Skiotha is Chuck Norris. (And that Old Spice guy).

The Tekne: maximizing efficiency since Far Antiquity. Fighters, eljus and hair care specialists, the Sranc really are multi-purpose tools.

I don't always go gay, but when I do, I prefer the Most Violent of Men.

This deserves a "like" in a world where this board is not overrun by Johnny-Come-Lately HBO subscribers!!!!
