[BOOK SPOILERS] “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”

I take back what I said about them doing Ramsay's reveal ASAP. Based on Ramsay's comments and the preview for next week, it seems as if Ramsay leads a hunt for Bran and Rickon. If this the case, his identity should only be revealed just before or after the Red Wedding(preferably before).

Think about it. Stannis has at least two seasons of material left to be in a position to get Theon in a different place. Three whole seasons of torture? At best it will fall flat, at worst it will be very disturbing, off-putting, and gratuitous. Don't get me wrong, Reek's chapters were the best in Dance in my eyes. But I don't think it necessarily translates well on screen, and having more of it is not the answer.

I really think Alfie Allen would come back, and I don't think they need to force material just to keep him around. It's like cutting off your pinky to spite your thumb, to make a terrible analogy.

I think this season will be torture, next season will be his early DwD material, Moat Cailin and the like, up to about where Jeyne Poole or her surrogate turns up. Then Season 5 will be the rest of his DwD stuff, and his capture by Stannis.

Then, Season 5 will be his

This was a brilliant scene, close to perfection. We needed to see some "flaying", we all knew that before the start of the season, and now we got it. Yeah, the other scenes with Theon were a waste of time, but not this one.

Holy moly. If I had any minor, nagging doubts about Iwan Rheon remaining they're gone now. He was fantastic. I love his delivery, his crazy-ass facial expressions, everything. jesus christ theon aaaa :bawl:

In my eyes this is, so far anyway, still an admittedly sorta mediocre and aimless arc - boy howdy are they dragging out that reveal - but it's totally salvaged by a wonderful performance from the two principle actors and a couple of stand-out scenes.

You could say that this week's scene was more torture-porny filler, the storyline is still treading water, etc. and you'd be a little right but it's very compelling in spite of that IMO. We'll see if it wears out its welcome next week.

My favorite thing was the callback to the fucking horn, hahaha.

I don't understand the dragging out comment. There seems to be some kind of undertone that Theon isn't a main character, when he could very well be one of the main charcter for all we know. I mean everything that happened to him essentially was implied in the book so how is this stuff not important?

I was watching/reading reviews of the episode and I saw a surprising number of unsullied feeling as if Theon could actually be removed completely from this season. They said so because they don't see the relevance to any of the other plots, and its not moving Theon's character forward because it feels like a retread or something. So it seems like unsullied are under the impression that this stuff going on is solely about Theon. I wonder how they'll feel finding out that it's also about developing Ramsay.

More than likely they'll tie them together.

While Roose is all "Jaime Lannister sends his regards," Ramsay will reveal he is Ramsay and detail the burning of Winterfell for shits and giggles

A Ramsay monologue over scenes of chaos and massacre from the RW about how the Starks are truly finished (akin to LF's monologue montage in this one) could be awesome. Or crap. I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle it, anyway.

Side note. Just started watching a show called 'Vicious.' Starring Iwan Rheon alongside Sir Ian McKellan.

Basically the first episode involves Gandalf being gay for Ramsay Snow. It's pretty funny.

A hunt for Bran/Rickon would be an interesting twist and it would seem more likely to do next season as it's not something that can be established over just a few episodes - it would give Theon a break as well as the torture but it would also present a good opportunity for the group to split off (Bran/Reeds & Osha/Rickon) .. I'm just not sure how feasible that is however once the Bolton's turn then there is very much the incentive to eliminate the surviving male heirs. It would also be a good opportunity to see the usefulness of Meera as not only a hunter but someone who knows the terrain very well.. It would also be a good opportunity to work Shaggydog/Summer in a bit more here as well.

I am in the "loving the scenes" boat but at the same time I realize it can't continue down this path for 2 seasons.. next week might be the last bit of the gratuitous stuff before the reveal and it becomes more plot oriented with the Bolton's turning and setting their sights on bigger things i.e Winterfell.

"I'm a better hunter than you"

Does that mean they will keep Kyra and Theon escape?

They can still do that scene in season 4, think about it they need material for that one too

Theon is already reekyfied at the beginning of adwd, which would be s5.

I think it will be few episodes in s4 with torture and the rest lurking around as reek

Oh and Iwan Rheon is the perfect casting choice for this role, absolutely brilliant.

After i saw some of his music videos, i wasnt so sure about the choice, but now i definetly can see it.

His eyes are really Bolton-like and he's got those batshit crazy looks, really scary... Oo

I actually jumped when he leapt up out of his seat after settling down in the chair with the Karstark story. Just that little flash motion of him rushing over to Theon actually startled me, even though I knew he was lying.

I did too. Not a big jump but I did flinch. Mostly because I was trying to figure out if they REALLY made him a Karstark

Same - I mean I know they didn't but I was worried it was going to leave it hanging on that realization (which would make sense in a way I guess)
