[BOOK SPOILERS] Nitpick without repercussion?

Recommended Posts

^Agreed. Although Drogon steals the spot from the other two just as much in the books as well...

I know. I just thought the show would at least try to be more balanced with them.

We only seem them in one or two establishing shots to remind us she has 3.

Yeah, calling him attractive. Seriously? Don't want to be mean, but he is a dwarf. By the general standards of male attractiveness, he does not qualify. In the only scene so far that has shown him semi-naked (the show's first episode) you really see the deformities in his limbs.

While i chuckled with disbelief here, i saw that it was Marg trying to comfort Sansa.

I bet they even show Sansa getting busy with Tyrion.

Nah. Sophie Turner is still a minor. They wont show her nude at all during that.

Orell and Ygritte. Not sure about that.

Theon's scene. Too grisly and no pay off.

Margaery is just saying Willas's lines about Tyrion, but from a girl's pov. And of course, she was lying about him being attractive, what she was going to say, "he's nice and good to you, but good luck looking at his face every single day of your life until one of you both dies"?. The rest was true, though.

They already praise and worship Show Tyrion in almost every scene related to him, why cannot they just drop that and allow Sansa to justifiably bitch about her position without more annoying worship of his flawless character?

I wish they would explain who that woman is in every Robb scene, the older lady with the red hair and constant frown on her face, she seems to have something to say but keeps getting interrupted, is she a septa or something?

Also, it is interesting how Blackfish doesn't feel any shame cursing in front of her while being worried about Talisa's ears.

At what point in the writing process was it decided that the series needed an obligatory Theon torture porn scene every episode?

And I have a hard time imagining Ramsay keeping a couple of hot young ladies working for him without quickly losing his patience and using them for his 'sport'. The ladies in question, if they have any sense whatsoever, should have appeared utterly petrified by him.

They could just be random whores he hired and they don't know they should be afraid. They might think they themselves are safe. It could be like Joffrey did with the ones Tyrion gave him. I doubt that's the case, but it's possible.

Some nitpicks:

Shae is an insult to feudalistic society. A whore would never speak the way she does to someone with a birth as high as Tyrion. She behaves like a uptight American woman.

Way too much nudity/raunchy talk in this episode.

I hope Theon's situation ends the debate about his, you know... Especially if GRRM wrote that scene.

I was very surprised to learn that GRRM wrote this. It's one of the worst/least faithful episodes yet.

Seriously? That's the most book faithful portion of the show.

I am appalled that they show women being complicit in Theon's torture. The women had it just as bad (in some cases worse) at Ramsay's hands. Instead these two seemed to be enjoying the show.

What with the fate of Ros last week, I'm actually half-dreading that one or both of these girls will make a reappearance in some future episode. To demonstrate what Ramsay does for fun.

I mean, yeah, that's book canon that Ramsay enjoys his 'sport'. But I'm not sure how many more scenes involving young girls being tortured and murdered for pleasure this series needs.

I don't want to see it. But it was completely unnecessary to add them in at all. Many thought that with the fake escape attempt it would replace Kyra, so I assumed they were going to leave girls out of it entirely. Instead, they did... this.

Maybe they need more to prove that Ramsay is a real s.o.b., in case someone around is thinking that cutting some guy's penis while he's fully awake is not enough.

I'll make it easy. I tried to keep count of scenes that had some basis from the books. I got 3.

1)Daenerys' parley

2)Jaime talking with Qyburn

3)Jaime and the bearpit

...So yeah, "nitpick" is an understatement.

A lot of Jon/Ygritte scenes were from the books or based on the books. Jon telling Ygritte about the stone castles, Ygritte saying "We may die, but first we live, Jon Snow".

Inconsistency is my main complaint.

In what I believe makes a contradiction: Tywin claims that the smallest of the Dragon skulls was right next to the Iron Throne, where according to Viserys season one said they got bigger the closer to the throne that you got. Was the last one an exception? Did they run out of room and have to put the one the size of an "apple" inside Balerion's skull?

Talisa says that she never wants to live in a slave city again after the slave saved her brother's life. This episode she seems to want to go and visit Volantis very much. Not exactly a contradiction but it seemed strange for her to want to go back. The scene was really distracting with Talisa ass in constant view the whole time.

Tyrion knows that Joffrey wants to kill him but yet he's not making any sort of plans to leave KL. He tells Shae he'll get her a house in KL and come and visit.

Margaery tells Sansa that her son might be the heir to Winterfell and she doesn't realize that means that Robb is doomed, Rickon and Bran are probably dead, all she thinks is that her son might not be seven feet tall like her.

Now I might as well point out my positive comments from changes they made:

1. Arya telling Beric that her one true god is death and him just getting pwned since he has to admit each time he comes back he loses a part of himself, hence her god is the OTHER one true god LOL.

2. "Half a million"..... enough said.

3. Jaime standing up to Locke, I kept wondering if he was just going to shove him in the bear pit. No, his time will come soon enough.

4. Lord Tarth offering 300 gold dragons instead of just 200, it's his ONLY child afterall.

5. The Bear not dying... I figured they'd climb the wall ( lol I thought last week's episode was the climb) but I liked the Bear still being there so it can kill Locke when the Mountain comes back :)

Dragons didn't cook their meat before eating it.

Didn't like the change to "The Lannisters send their regards", rather than Jamie specifically, due to softening up the unintended consequences.

Can we all agree that Talisa/Jeyne is a spy now? Don't like that.

I think the dragons did cook their meat, we just didn't see it since they were fighting over it(trying to save a few bucks). I imagine Roose might now say "Jaime Lannister told me to tell you that the Lannisters send their regards" not the same inpact though.

I don't agree Talisa is a spy, what gives you this idea?

Was anyone else bothered by Orell, The Love Struck Wildling? It's very possible that I'm missing something, but the idea of a Orell/Ygritte/Jon love triangle... :ack:

It seemed kinda obvious the way he's been looking at her all season that he had some kinda thing for her, it also explains his jealousy with Jon Snow since Orell for some reason can't sense that Jon Snow is a warg(this might be the biggest reason that Ghost isn't with Jon). The triangle is going to be pretty short lived( I can only hope)

So I'm guessing that this means Robb will not be naming Jon his heir, correct?

Hard to say how it's going to go down, if he doesn't hear about the Ironborne deal before the RW then no, he's got no reason to name Jon Snow his heir.

His main reason is because he has no brothers alive, Sansa being married to Tyrion and Arya being MIA and Jeyne not being pregnant yet.

The show his situation might be entirely different. Bran and Rickon are missing and Talisa tells him she's pregnant. Still he his reasoning for naming Jon Snow his heir was because Jon was grown up and taught the same lessons about battle etc. that he was from Ned.

What he might do is legitimize Jon Snow so that he can lead them should something happen to him, his heir is not going to be old enough to be a leader/lord/king for a long time and this is assuming that Robb has a son, if he has a daughter she'd still be his heir and queen of the North I suppose while her mom is Queen Reagent.

but I think that show Robb seems to be a bit short sighted this season.

Ygritte/Jon scenes aren't bad, the problem is that aren't very consistent with the progress of their relationship in the show and are kinda messy. The kind of mischievousness and camaraderie they had in this episode should have come first than the scene in that cave.

I'm a bit of a show sycophant so I don't complain much but is it just me or did it look like Bran's group were in the same vicinity (similiar hillside) as Jaime and Qyburn? I know they weren't but my brother who doesn't read the books thought they were going to run into each other and that Bran's wolf would kill Jaime.
