Was that GoT or some weird porn movie? :stillsick:

Gave it a 5, the weakest episode so far. Almost everything seemed contrived in my opinion (with the exception being the Jon/Ygritte scenes). I didn't even like the bear pit overly much, the Rains of Castamere playing in the end was good though. And all this over-dramatisation, god...

And if they change "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" into "The Lannisters send their regards" I'm going mad.

Ygritte is an irritating little shit. I think she and Dirty-Face Bird Man would make a great couple. Jon needs to smack that guy with a nice big sword, just like he did to Half-Hand. In exactly the same way. Hmph.

I don't care if Ygritte can kill a deer. She still annoys the crap out of me. She's full of it and isn't half the warrior woman that is Arya, at half her age. Good for Jon Snow, finally telling Redheaded Bag of Wind the truth about their cause.

Ha, so much this. I forgot to address Ygritte in my comments, but good grief has she ever gotten boring. At this point in their relationship, you'd think she'd be past mocking every fucking word out of Jon's mouth.

I'm with the people who say Theon scenes need to take a break. Everyone I watch the show with is getting turned off by it. Ironically I was one of the people who said it was smart to include Theon this season. I still believe that was the right decision, but they could at least show him every other episode or every three episodes just to tone down the torture and let the more important stories this season get more air time. My non-reader friend asked what the point was of even showing this character anymore and I told her his future is unclear, but a lot of people think he will get some type of redemption in the end for his past crimes.

They needed the Osha scene to make their split seem less random.

They don't stop every boat that sails past.

Dany scene was top notch.

And I felt some really strong emotions when Jaime jumped into the pit. It may seem anticlimatic to you, but for a person like him, with one hand, to jump in after Brienne is emotional enough for me.

Dislike the Reeds in the show, liked them more in the book.

For the most part i really liked this episode with a few exceptions, the two girls with Theon scene was dyer there was no reason for it and it

was unbelievable . I thought the guy who played the yunkai master was a shit actor really lowerd the standard in this episode. The osha scene was pointless

should of been cutout. The bear pit scene was very weak compared to the book. i gave it an 8 bc the rest i enjoyed

This is actually a joke, I find it funny how people are complaining about all the exposition and "boring" moments. If you want to see hack and slash blood fest go watch Spartacus. This is a serious show not meant for small minded people. It's also funny how the majority of people giving it a negative review have less than 100-200 posts, it tells me that alot of people have jumped on the bandwagon expecting action every second scene.

Now that's not fair, you assume way too much. I read the books long ago and have myself under 100 posts. Only reason I'm here now is because it gives me something to do at work, which has been terribly slow lately.

And for people who are new to these boards but have read all five books, does that make them less able to understand/appreciate/love the books than you do? That's like saying someone who has a thousand plus posts likes the books more than you do because you're still only in the 600s. Ridiculous. Certain people spend way more time on the internet than others.

I gave it a 7 - overly generous, but the Dragons were so marvelous, and for the acting in the Jaime scenes. I give them kudos for the live bear - goddess knows, I would not want to be so close to a grizzly, even a trained one - but cannot imagine why they left out the bone Jaime used in the book - aside from it being good action, bones in the pit would be an apt grim touch.

I thought the Ayra scenes were good - the "death" remark is not in the book, I think, but fits how the character is developing.

Bron and Tyrion were good.

For the rest .... oh, well. Some more totallay pointless scenes ... more torture, more cutesy Margaery and Sansa.

I found this episode entertaining

-I didnt like the drawn out sex thing with theon (thats the kind of thing that fuels people's stereotypes of the show being one long sex scene)

-I really liked it when Jon was telling Ygritte that the wildlings would never prevail.

-For some reason I was bugged by the scene in which Jamie convinces the guy to take him back to harrenhall-The only reason I didnt like this was because the setting seemed to be somewhere about 2 miles from winterfell.

-Since grrm wrote the episode it seems like he might be answering some questions in the books that people have

(theon's wee getting cut) and (robb's wife being pregrz)

-I havent seen Dany in a while and feel bad that non-readers expect her to invade westeros any day now. he scene was great though.

-The bear scene seemed pretty good (albeit rushed) -It left a nice ending to the episode.

-They really need to explain what the wildlings are actually trying to accomplish (especially with that few soldiers)

8

-

I think that everyone who bashes the show needs to take a reality check and compare it to most anything else on TV..

As I stated, the majority, not everyone.

It has been said that the show's greatest flaw is losing the subtility of the characters and events from the book. I totally agree with this point. They're so filling up the show with cliche's that they're losing parts of the story and characters:

  • Tyrion just whines about everything and looks childish. But of course he has no flaws, he has to be our obvious hero caught between duty and love. And Shae feels betrayed. She always does, She only complains to poor Tyrion. Seriously, how could he fall in love with her?. Good thing there's Bronn around.

  • Jon scenes; even more cliches: i love you, but you have to trust me and leave your people...but i love you more, and Jon is not the right one for you, i am. Dramatic intent, fails hard IMO. Ygritte's and Jon's relationship was left aside a lot in the books, but i still don't believe that both are in love by what we've been shown. Tormund trying to be funny, doesn't mention his enormous d*ck.

  • Tywin doesn't even look as scary and cool headed this last two episodes as his renown tells about him. Even his coward grandchild Joffrey dares to discuss with him. This scene could have been done so much better. And why talk about Dany and not talk about the war?. I feel like since Tywin arrived to KL he has done nothing more about the war which is going on. There are Northmen in Harrenhall and he just talks and talks with Olenna about gay relationships and with Joffrey about dragons. He's supposed to be the hand of the king...

  • Sansa and Margaery talking about sex: another filler which doesn't do any right to the characters. Seriously, now it's supposed to mean that Margaery is some kind of nympho? Are the Tyrells all perverts or what? (from Westeros point of view)

  • Theon's torture...nothing much to say about that. Producers obviously like porn and violence, so why not mix them both? It would have been so much better if they showed us how he disappears in Bolton's torture chambers and then reappeared in the next season all psichologically and physically destroyed, leaving all that happened to our imagination.

  • Mel and Gendry and her revelation. Just a scene that tries to bring some epicness into the story: dramatic music, cool special effects and so on. All this for such a little talk? When i watched it i thought it was ridiculous

  • Robb and the Tarlys marching north. I seriously think they are destroying both Black Fish and Edmure's characters. One looks like a big bully, the other like Cat's stupid brother. And Talisa is now pregnant? Robb is going to meet her parents at Volantis? Why does it sound like they're trying to put up some drama but fail epicly? And leaving the deepest and most dramatic figure (Cat) of the group aside like they do again and again this seeson is a crime.

On the other hand, i liked the scene with Dany, though we have again our unnecessary special effects-show off moment. Arya's scene seemed well resolved too, but it seemed too easy for her to escape from them (?), and Jaime rescueing Brienne was a good one IMO.

The whole build up was pretty cool, starting with the dialogue with Qyburn to him jumping in the Pit and escaping just at time. Though i must say i missed a bit of opposition by Vargo Hoat's men. I mean, if they're refusing 300 gold coins 'cause they now they're going to die soon, why caring about what a useless Jaime and some Bolton's soldiers say? Pretty unlogic. And why the hell are they all calling Vargo Locke now? Bolton called him clearly Vargo Hoat in the previous episode.

My conclusion is: many scenes used just to fill up time and are pointless, and many dialogues which may appear good written but seem not levelled to the complexity of the charachters.

It's tru that there are good effects though somehow abused, and brilliant acting and scenery, but the script seems more and more a deception to me.

I give it a 6

Excellent work

I gave this episode a 6. I really think this was the weakest episode of the entire series (not just the season), which baffles me because GRRM wrote this episode. Maybe I just set my standards too high after Blackwater.

I loved the Joff/Tywin scene, and Dany's part of the episode was well done. I wish they took out that Osha scene, and the two women in Ramsay's dungeon was unnecessary.

I gave it an 8, and I gave myself some time to stew over it and decide. Mostly because the good was very good, and the bad wasn't as bad as last week - except for Theon. The highlights were Arya, Jaime/Brienne, Dany and I suppose I liked Jon/Ygritte too (but let's move forward now, they made a point they love each other). I also liked Tyrion kind of implying that as much as he doesn't want to admit it, he would like to have Sansa which is faithful to the books.

Mel/Gendry and Talisa/Robb were fairly forgettable. The only thing I hate is the fact that Talisa is pregnant means she'll definitely stick around.

An episode without show!Littlefinger and show!Cersei is automatically a much better episode btw. Need more Stannis and Davos.

I liked this episode. It was cohesive, it flowed, it wasn't "action-packed" but it was a good pacing episode. I felt like there were real feelings invested by all the characters. There have been more action packed episodes that really didn't hang together as an episode or make me emotionally engage with the characters, but this did.

A lot of the complaints seem like the usual "too many boobies" "not enough fighting" "kill the bear!" (sorry that's new)

But I seem to have firewalled the books and the TV series in my mind a bit more than some.

And I'm glad the bear lived. There. I said it.

Never gotten the argument. The problem is that they have chosen to build up things that aren't really central (Theon) and dumped things that are (more of the BwB, more of the wildlings, more on the Freys), so they have pared the story down to the bone and left themselves with an episode that was largely circling the airfield.

I wonder if in retrospect they might not have reconsidered how they planned out this episode. But maybe they feel that so long as the RW comes out right, everything's justified.

Ok, they have to slow things down before

the Red Wedding

, but they slowed things down a bit too much. Still, loved Tywin Lannister letting 3 seconds pass before adding a "Your Grace" on his departing lol

Gave it a 5. Worst episode of the season and problably in the whole series.

In almost every scene there is nudity or talk about sex... and it is just so utterly pointless and dumb. Really unnecessary. Theon, Marg/Sansa... stupid scenes.

Dany's scene was the best and it was just okay. Nothing great in this episode.
