Most Powerful Person in ASOIAF as of ADWD

The High Septon for me. And this is based not only on the sheer following. He is probably the only player left, who can still make choices, while others have played their card already and are waiting for the favourable outcome, having thrown everything and the kitchen sink at the GoT.

Think about it, yes the Tytells have the military strength, LF has his titles, Varys has his assassin-babies and endless source of information it seems, Bran and BR have their warging, fAegon has an army and all of them to some degree offset one another: Tyrells versus fAegon and possibly Martells, Varys versus LF plotting.

High Septon is the only one who can choose to support one of these forces and give them an advantage. He can choose to make a deal with the Tyrells for Margy's freedom and gain more power for himself in return for supporting Tommen and them as protectors or regents or he can choose to embrace fAegon as the original faith embraced Aegon the Conqueror.

It is this notion of choice is what gives him the edge over the rest, since they can not shift the balance of power, but in direct confrontation, and in the case of direct fight noone can predict the outcome. The only person the HS can't choose to back is Stannis, which is the only limit to his power. But currently Stannis does not seem to be a threat to anyone, but the Boltons.

on the case of Dany, she has the potential to become the most powerful, as some of her power is not concentrated in the military might alone, she has an aura about her that can influence people once she establishes herself as the leader again - the whole mother of dragons, last Targ, untouched by fire crap. If she ever shows up in Westeros, she has the potential to choose her alliances, as I think players will flog to her, as the Martell did, one can see Mel certainly considering it if the word about dragons reaches her, possibly the HS also and fAegon as well, with only the Tyrells and the remaining Lannisters opposing, but that will only happen if Dany gets to Westeros, before then she will always be bit par, as she can run up and down Essos, conquer cities left and right, but once she moves on, things just go back to normal, basically she is leaving no lasting legacy and cannot establish lasting influence.
