I kind of liked how they threw in some "educational" bits within each episode and I liked how they didn't shy away from them doing deplorable things. The guy playing Ragnar seemed to have a constant twinkle in his eye. Given the history though I wonder how long the show can last? Or whether it's going to follow generations of Vikings? I wasn't entirely sure what the deal was with the Priest - had he taken the Viking way as his own or was his intention to eventually try and convert them? He seemed to swing from one to the other in the second half of the season. I also thought there wasn't any fallout from Gabri"earl" Byrne's wife killing another Earl/king of Sweden. I thought that should have led to consequences. Speaking of the Earl i loved it when his annoying little announcer was killed. The only distraction was that Ragnar reminded me of a Medieval Jax from "sons of anarchy" which then had me thinking the vikings had a lot in common with a motorcycle gang and that I was watching the "original" SAMCRO. I have seen some anal retentive reviews complaining that the "moon symbol on the battle axe is tilted the wrong way".
