[book spoilers] Theon's manhood

Recommended Posts

Are you all forgetting the scene in the books that completely gives it away?

Ramsay has Theon get Jeyne "ready" for him and Theon, confused, says "My lord...but...I have no..." while Ramsay answers "With your tongue, Reek!" I think he even says that if he fails to get her ready that way, that he will take his tongue TOO. This, coupled with Theon saying how Ramsay took "that other thing"....PLUS the scene from this week's episode very clearly confirm it.

THIS. People are forgetting this part from the book. It's pretty much spelled out right there in the book that Ramsay cut his junk at that point.

Well I think that's clearly the point. It's Theon's house words but it's also literal... He will never sow.... No heirs, nothing.

There was a thread a few days back analyzing the Greyjoy house words and I don't think anyone proposed this. Its really funny, and true, though I'm going to assume unintentional.

There is no way it was unintentional. You're underestimating GRRM ;) All of the house words are extremely important for the characters. If they choose the right path, their house words will lead them to prosperity, if not, their house words will come back to haunt them. 'Winter is Coming...' aka, death is coming. As it does for Ned, in the RW etc. If you look at the unofficial Lannister words, 'A Lannister Always pays his debts', same is happening. Each of them are 'paying' for their previous crimes, or, use it to seek revenge.

GRRM is a very man clever so your right, it may be intentional and wickedly so :D I always took 'We do not sow' to mean 'We don't plan ahead for the future', which Theon certainly didn't, and now as far as I can see it, he has no future(children, legacy, even potential for future happiness). Still, I tend to take house words with a grain of salt because they are often too vague and can be applied to too many situation to give them any real weight. House words are more useful for broad characterizations of families and their values. Sure, Starks have died, so have Lannisters (and basically every other family) and yes Lannisters get revenge, but so do Starks (and many others).

I wonder if there are casinos that will take a prop bet like that? :)

i know youre being glib but clearly not.

if they did, grrm could just bet heavily on the underdog, then write it so that he wins

I think it pretty clear that Theon's willy was chopped off. Ramsay would hardly leave Reek alone with his wife otherwise.

Jayne Poole has certainly gotten much more than she expected out of the fake Arya scheme. What she was led to believe would be a nice life as mistress of Winterfell has turned into being one of the bottoms in some rather nasty sadistic sex games.

What about when Reek is in the bedroom with Arya/Jeyne and Ramsay says 'get her started for me' (I'm quoting all these from memory - so don't sue!) and Reek says 'but...' and Ramsay says 'with your mouth'..

ETA - oops too late - that comes from opening this page hours ago and not refreshing before responding..

I think every thread should have this title.

Yes, I think it's still up for debate. They didn't actually show it, for all we know Boy could have done all that just to mess with him.

In the books, the one line that nags at me is when Abel's washerwoman is flirting with him and he said he wants to fuck her but didn't dare. Not couldn't, but didn't dare to. If not for that one line, I would believe it.

"Could not touch her" doesn't make sense though. Of course he could touch her; not with his dick but still. I think "dare not touch her" means he dare not because it's futile and she would learn that he has no cock.

This debate should be over. There should never have been a debate even before this episode aired. Ramsay would never pass this up.

That passage is ambiguous in the books, except for what's projected by the mind of the reader.

I did say 'Explicit'.

Tell me some different ways to interpret the passage that Envie keeps referencing.
